Iron Man (Black Sabbath cover) Lyrics

Has he lost his mind?
Can he see or is he blind?
Can he walk at all,
Or if he moves will he fall?
Is he alive or dead?
Has he thoughts within his head?
We'll just pass him there
Why should we even care?

He was turned to steel
In the great magnetic field
When he travelled time
For the future of mankind

Now the time is here
For Iron Man to spread fear
Vengeance from the grave
Kills the people he once saved

Nobody wants him
He just stares at the world
Planning his vengeance
That he will soon unfurl

Nobody wants him
They just turn their heads
Nobody helps him
Now he has his revenge

Heavy boots of lead
Fills his victims full of dread
Running as fast as they can
Iron Man lives again!

I'd wager that anyone who thinks this cover is reason to wish death on the artists who covered it should probably step back and take a look at his attitude.

At first I didn't like this cover, but it's really growing on me. I think it works really well where it is placed on the First Band On The Moon album. Near the end, right before Great Divide, right after losers. It bridges the songs together very well, in context it could be about a losers she sang about, getting revenge...

I love this cover! It is completely opposite of the original, so it is really great to listen to. Seems like a completely different song.

I prefer it over the original.

^^ Agreed. A great cover version should always take a song and reinterpret it, just as the Cardigans have done here and the same with how they did Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. If you don't like it then fine, but at least they didn't just churn out some pointless sing along karaoke version like some metal twat bands would have.

At first I was hesitant to accept this song, but later came to enjoy it fully. The stark contrast between the original and this, and the fact the lyrics are discernible and frank, bring new meaning to this song. I love the new take on the riff too. I view it as less of a tribute and more of a satire at the ridiculousness of the attitude of black/death metal bands, and the song is the vessel of revenge.

I'm convinced it's about a statue that falls over. But that's just me.

Nah fuck that. They took a great song, and turned it into a shitty pop love song. Ozzy should bite that dumb bitches head off for being such a whore to take him and Tony's masterpiece and turning it into more fluff bullshit. I hope that entire band chokes on their own vomit, cept that is too good for them, dying like the great immortal jimmi
