Runnin' With The Devil Lyrics
^^^It was recorded in 1978.
Many of you are partially right. Rock and roll has long been thought to be "the music of the devil" and this song accurately describes the life of "running with the devil", living the hard rock lifestyle of day to day, no real place to call home, no love of your life, running from town to town at a pace that would kills mere mortals. It's probably one of the most powerful and accurate rock and roll anthems while also being one of the least lyrical and short.
van halen is da pwns
van halen kicks ass
This song has nothing to do with satan or his lifestyle. It is very simple & refers to the stress that we we experience in city life. Even if we think we're leading a simple life, we always get pulled into the complications of the world. This song is awesomely tight. And let me tell you - Rock N roll aint about anti-christ shit. Rock N Roll is about what the songwriter feels & he puts it out in one tight song. Runnin' with the devil, for example. Great song
If I recall correctly, in an interview in 1978, Dave said that he wrote this song about his early morning workouts, mainly jogging, that he did with Satan. He and Satan met at the Whiskey--the Devil was trying to see behind Eddie's back to figure out how he did the tapping, and Dave got pissed that he was leaning on the stage, and had him removed until after the set. Anyway, after the set, he and Dave were hitting on the same blond and discovered that they have similar tastes, and actually hit it off as friends. So, there you have it, jogging with SAtan.
I think that this song is about a guy who takes life a day at a time. As he goes farther into the song, he realizes that life isnt all that simple. He sees that theres no where to turn becasue he never looked and planned ahaed, he always just watched what was right in front of him.
what does this song mean? can it really be just about the devil or what?
nothing
