It Can't Rain All The Time Lyrics

SPOKEN:
We walked the narrow path,
beneath the smoking skies.
Sometimes you can barely tell the difference
between darkness and light.
Do you have faith
in what we believe?
The truest test is when we cannot,
when we cannot see.

SUNG:
I hear pounding feet in the,
in the streets below, and the,
and the women crying and the,
and the children know that there,
that there's something wrong,
and it's hard to belive that love will prevail.

Oh it won't rain all the time.
The sky won't fall forever.
And though the night seems long,
your tears won't fall forever.

Oh, when I'm lonely,
I lie awake at night
and I wish you were here.
I miss you.
Can you tell me
is there something more to belive in?
Or is this all there is?

In the pounding feet, in the,
In the streets below, and the,
And the window breaks and,
And a woman falls, there's,
There's something wrong, it's,
It's so hard to belive that love will prevail.

Oh it won't rain all the time.
The sky won't fall forever.
And though the night seems long,
your tears won't fall, your tears won't fall, your tears won't fall
forever.

Last night I had a dream.
You came into my room,
you took me into your arms.
Whispering and kissing me,
and telling me to still belive.
But then the emptiness of a burning sea against which we see
our darkest of sadness.

Until I felt safe and warm.
I fell asleep in your arms.
When I awoke I cried again for you were gone.
Oh, can you hear me?

It won't rain all the time.
The sky won't fall forever.
And though the night seems long,
your tears won't fall forever.
It won't rain all the time
The sky won't fall forever.
And though the night seems long,
your tears won't fall, your tears won't fall,
your tears won't fall
forever.

This song isnt about living in a sad world, its much more specific than that. Look at the movie its from, for heavens sake! This song is about loosing the one you love. For the movie's sake I would say to death, but it can mean the loss of someone period, I think. Really look at the lyrics:

"We walk the narrow path Beneath the smoking skies." The narrow path is life, and the smoking skies are the crap going on around us.

"Sometimes, we can barely tell the difference Between darkness and light." Sometimes good and evil look the same; or sometimes the lines are blurred so that to do good one must do evil. "Do we have faith In what we believe? The truest test is when we cannot, When we cannot see." self explanitory

"I hear pounding feet in the, in the streets below, and the, and the women crying and the, and the children know that there, that there's something wrong, and it's hard to belive that love will prevail." The world sucks. Evil goes on all around us, and its hard to imagine something as small as love can survive all that pain.

"Oh it won't rain all the time. The sky won't fall forever. And though the night seems long, your tears won't fall forever." This is some hope for the world, and for the love she feels is lost to her.

"Oh, when I'm lonely, I lie awake at night and I wish you were here. I miss you." self explanitory

"Can you tell me is there something more to belive in? Or is this all there is?" Can I believe in more than the pain around me, in love, or is this failing life all there is?

"Last night I had a dream. You came into my room, you took me into your arms Whispering and kissing me, and telling me to still belive." She dreamed he returned to reassure her that love is worth believing in, that he is worth believing in. "But then the emptiness of a burning sea against which we see our darkest of sadness." Even after his reassurance, she feels the pain of his loss, remembers that he is still lost to her. This is literally he thoughts at that second, interrupting the peace she feels with him there. "Until I felt safe and warm. I fell asleep in your arms." But he stayed until she was at peace, like he was never gone to begin with. "When I awoke I cried again for you were gone. Oh, can you hear me?" She cries not just because she sees it was a dream, but because its like loosing him again. Maybe she could take the first loss, but to have him for one night and lose him again? She cries out to him. Cant he feel how much she loves him, and misses him?

Its a direct correlation to the movie The Crow. His loss, his pain, facing his memories...

I don't think this song is just about the movie itself. Brandon Lee was going to be married a few weeks after filming. At the end, it's dedicated to "Brandon and Eliza." I can't hear the lyrics:

Last night I had a dream. You came into my room, you took me into your arms. Whispering and kissing me, and telling me to still belive. But then the emptiness of a burning sea against which we see our darkest of sadness.

Until I felt safe and warm. I fell asleep in your arms. When I awoke I cried again for you were gone. Oh, can you hear me?

...without picturing her having a dream about Brandon, feeling safe and OK for just a few minutes, then waking back up. This might be the saddest song I've ever heard, because of the story behind the movie.

I can't believe nobody has left any comments on any of her songs! This is the only one i've actually heard, i think it's awsome. I heard it at the end of The Crow. So i had to get The Crow soundtrack. Normally i wouldn't listen to stuff like this but as its on the crow its an exception. The first spoken bit kind of reminds me of death. I'm not religious. But i guess it could be about the 'walk' to heaven "We walk the narrow path"

"it won't rain all the time, the sky wont fall forever" Seems to be there could be something bad happening, but it will pass. "though the night seems long" Perhaps they are refering the awful thing to night time. So it may seem very long like it will go on forever but it won't. "Your tears won't fall forever" You will get over it. Just give it time. (I think the bad thing that is happening is that a loved one has gone away for a while, and she is worried that the love will eventually wear away.)

"Last night I had a dream. You came into my room, you took me into your arms." She really loves this person and is dreaming that they will some back and hold her. "Whispering and kissing me, and telling me to still belive." Perhaps telling her to still believe in their love. "Until I felt safe and warm. I fell asleep in your arms." She trusts this person and feels comfortable with them. "When I awoke I cried again for you were gone" She wakes up and realises it was just a dream and her loved one wasnt there at all. "Oh, can you hear me?" Can her loved one hear her crying out for her.

Hell yeah honey! This is a truly worthy song!!! I love the lyrics and the music just sends a chill down your spine....

And, of course, it's involvement with the Crow gives it a little more credibility... Although there were a lot of great tunes on that ST ans this wasn't the only reason to buy it.

Like you, I was shocked no-one else had commented.

There is so much truth in this song. Just thinking about the line "It's hard to believe that love will prevail" brings a lump to my throat, without even listening to it.
