Let's Go Out Tonight Lyrics

Where the cars go by,
All the day and night,
Why don't you say,
What's so wrong tonight?

Pray for me,
Praying for the light,
Baby baby,
Let's go out tonight.

Where the lights all shine,
Like I knew they would,
Be mine all mine,
Baby I'll be good.

Pray for me,
Praying for the light,
Baby baby,
Let's go out tonight.

I know a place,
Where everything's alright,
Alright,
Let's go out tonight.

Where the cars go by,
All the day and night,
Why don't you say,
What's so wrong tonight.

I pray for love,
Coming out alright, yeah,
Oh baby baby,
Let's go out tonight, yeah.

Baby baby,
Let's go out tonight,
Let's go out tonight.

Tonight,
Tonight,
Let's go out tonight,
Yeah,
Where the cars go by,
Where the lights won't shine,
...,
Tonight.

Heartbreaking. Craigs reworking alongside Blue Nile singer/songwriter adds even more to an already perfect song.

This song ran through my mind over and over as I set next to my mother's deathbed. I thought about a lot of things, about our interaction through the years, the fights, the belly laughs, our gladiatorial relationship but mostly in the wake of that song, I thought about my mother as a very young woman, the part of her I had never witnessed or perhaps just plain can't remember. I heard stories that in her youth she loved to party. As she lay there with her life slowly slipping through my fingers, I had this unexplainable desire to take her out and just show her a good time.

craig armstrong is one of my contemporary composers, i wondered if this song was used in a movie that shared the same title of the album "The Space Between Us", about a human baby born on Mars by his mother- who then died in childbirth, the baby's mother is the astronaut that led the mission on an experimental habitat on Mars -- ffwd to the baby has become a young man, he braved space travel because his physiology has become different from other humans due to his unique birth upon a low-grav planetars, he returned in spite of great risks to his survival to earth to look for his unknown estranged father , in the process he fell in love... and the rest is... well... drama.

i love this song because the music and the singer's voice captured a certain poignant tone of resignation despite love. How many romances and love that failed the tests of time and societal stress, and at the crucial moment before utter divorce amd severence, that last seminal offer -- in the most simplest of social conviviality: Do you still want to be with me? Is there a place for me by your side? Am i still your chosen companion? Do you still want to be with me tonight?

And all futures and all unborn worlds hinges on your decision ; a Yes, or even a silence No' will be a beginning, or the End.

The music and the lyrics caught all that bare pathos, as there are no more tricks left to eke anymore desire out of their emotional predicament. Either accept that life forward will be as is -- this is as good as it gets. Or brave the Fates and this cruel world on your own.

Supposedly, it's about unrequited love, but I think it's more about someone telling someone who's depressed that they'll take care of them and take them out somewhere they can forget all their troubles.

Very beautiful and haunting.

It seems to be a song detailing some kind of desperation, but not sure of which type. Want, need, loss, hope?
