Pacer
Now I like to get loud
I like to go to the other side
Just to think, you were just passin' by
Ridin' around
You spat in my eye
Just to think, you were just passin' by
We were hike to hike
Breezing by
You broke the pace
Just a twisted kid, never learned to ride
Now I like to get loud
I like to go to the other side
Just to think, you were just passin' by
We were hike to hike
Breezing by
You broke the pace
Just a twisted kid, never learned to ride
Now my wheels are off the ground
They keep spinnin' 'round
Just to think, you were just passin' by
Now I like to get loud
Go to the other side
Just to think, you were just passin' by
I like to go to the other side
Just to think, you were just passin' by
You spat in my eye
Just to think, you were just passin' by
Breezing by
You broke the pace
Just a twisted kid, never learned to ride
I like to go to the other side
Just to think, you were just passin' by
Breezing by
You broke the pace
Just a twisted kid, never learned to ride
They keep spinnin' 'round
Just to think, you were just passin' by
Go to the other side
Just to think, you were just passin' by

I couldn't make out large parts of this song, especially "you spat in my eye" and "hike to hike". Even while looking at these lyrics, I still don't know what the song is about. On a literal level I guess it's about riding around and the people that pass you by.
@ho-ju the line is actually "height to height", and the song is about Kim watching Kelley's heroin use surpass her own. Kim knew how to "pace" herself so she didn't develop an acute problem, but Kelley just barreled on. The "you spat in my eye" is a bit of a divergence from that theme, it's a reference to an incident when Kim was 12 or so, riding her bike, and a neighborhood bully rode past her and spat a loogie in her face (dramatized in the video for the song as well).

"‘Pacer was mostly a love song to Kelley,’ Kim admits. ‘I was feeling love, anger, worry, resentment, and grateful that nothing worse had happened.’"
Kim in "Facing The Wrong Way: The Story of 4AD", in reference to Kelley's addictions/arrest/rehab.
