Where Idols Once Stood Lyrics

our idols lay in ruins
we’d have saved them if we could
but we still choose to worship
the places where our idols stood
still believe
they can save us
i’ve lived this way too long to turn back now
presuppositions set in stone
this coffin sealed by my own pride
and though it seems the sun will shine
ill draw the shades and stay inside
if we’ve learned anything at all
its that the ghosts of idols will do just as well
we all see what we want to anyway (anyway)
some things
are better left unsaid
you know what’s at stake
something’s are better left unsaid
as long as we can keep it
in textbooks, then we’ll be untouchable, untouchable
we hate to lie to children
but after all its all
for their own good

as if that isn't obvious enough from the song. evolution has never been proven, never even close, and yet schools teach it as undisputable fact. most of the so called evidence presented for evolution is fabricated crap or has been disproven time and time again, yet teachers are not allowed, in fact can lose their jobs and face lawsuits, if they even present creationism as an alternative to evolution. And given that an idol means something which takes the place of God, what else could this song be referring to

Dude I new this song was about evolution when Dustin said, "you know what’s at stake something’s are better left unsaid as long as we can keep it in textbooks, then we’ll be untouchable, untouchable we hate to lie to children but after all its all for their own good"

So obvious because that's the only way these ignoramus evolution idiots who don't know their own biology (they think a whale's pelvis "leg" used to be legs from land mamals but they're so stupid that the bone is different inmales and femals and it's essential for reproduction) can brainwash people, start with the kids. If we can talk about Martin Luther and Ghandi why not Jesus? Alll he did was preach love, mercy and to forgive others. Stop being ignorant people.

Im not really sure about this one, but It brings to mind the statement that the winners write the history books. While kids are learning about wars won, others are being shaded from the fact that they lost.

good song

THis song is actually very obvious...Idols...being past figures of major historical events...did something important. This we monumented them with a statue or memorial to worship them and learn from their mistakes.

no theres more to it than that

our idols lay in ruins we’d have saved them if we could

The things we once believed in we now know to no longer be true

but we still choose to worship the places where our idols stood

but in our self-deception we still hold on to those beliefs

still believe they can save us

still believe that they hold the key to our existence

i’ve lived this way too long to turn back now presuppositions set in stone this coffin sealed by my own pride

in my pride and prejudgment i cannot change my beliefs

and though it seems the sun will shine ill draw the shades and stay inside

and although i could find the truth i will baske in my own ignorance which i identify with

if we’ve learned anything at all its that the chests of idols will do just as well we all see what we want to anyway (anyway)

since we all deceive ourselves i might as well

some things are better left unsaid

the truth destoys ideal... it is best to leave it unsaid

you know what’s at stake something’s are better left unsaid as long as we can keep it in textbooks, then we’ll be untouchable, untouchable

through society we can instill the same lies and false ideals we believed in

we hate to lie to children but after all its all for their own good

its better for them to believe in a world with ideals instead of knowing the truth of our own imperfections

No offense, but it seems like you shoudn't have to paraphrase the lines "Still believe - they can save us". You have probably the best interpretation of this song in my oppinion.

it reminds me of america... all our life we've been told we're this noble and great country and then all of a sudden we learn that our past is one dictated by economic exploitation not morals. Our beliefs in the nobility and the ideology of America is shattered but we still believe that our government is good and that society is something great... we will not realize the evils of our country because we are patriots and believe america can do no wrong, we might as well baske in our illusions, we all see what we want to anyways, and we kno this dream is at stake, that we actually could find out that we are not this great moral pillar and are just another nation with a history of exploitation. But we never tell that story in the textbooks, so the children believe in these ideals that america is supposedly about... only those who take an interest can see through the patriotic rhetoric
