i like this song, and green day does rule. and i think that it means that this guy is stuck in a realationship, or something, and he cant get out, so hes gonna suffocate.

I always thought this song was about someone addicted to drugs/alcohol or any sort of substance and he is trying to quit, but doesn't really want to. If he doesn't quit, though, he'll suffocate.

I'm with drinkyouroj, I thought it was about some guy who goes to parties and drinks too much and stuff but because he's drunk he doesn't quite comprehend what he's doing... Will people stop assuming that all these songs are about girls? That's annoying and presumptuous.
