Cold As Ice Lyrics
You're as col as ice
You're willing to sacrifice our love
You never take advice
Someday you'll pay the price
I know
I've seen it before
It happens all the time
Closing the door
You leave the world behind
You're digging for gold
Yet throwing away
A fortune of feelings
But someday you'll pay
You're as cold as ice
You're willing to sacrifice our love
You want Paradise
Someday you'll pay the price
I know
I've seen it before
It happens all the time
Closing the door
You leave the world behind
You're digging for gold
Yet throwing away
A fortune of feelings
But someday you'll pay
Cold as ice you know
that you are
Cold as ice
Ooh Ooh Ooh
Cold as cold as ice
You're willing to sacrifice our love
You never take advice
Someday you'll pay the price
I've seen it before
It happens all the time
Closing the door
You're digging for gold
Yet throwing away
A fortune of feelings
You're as cold as ice
You're willing to sacrifice our love
You want Paradise
I know
I've seen it before
It happens all the time
You leave the world behind
You're digging for gold
Yet throwing away
But someday you'll pay
Cold as ice you know
that you are
Ooh Ooh Ooh
Cold as cold as ice

I see a very clear meaning to this song - every line in the song fits together. It's about a woman who broke up with him (or turned him down), and he notices a pattern with her that he's seen with many other women - she's "branch swinging" (known as hypergamy) where she keeps on seeking men with higher and higher looks/wealth/status, constantly finding a new man and then breaking up with the old. She "wants paradise" as in she won't settle down for less than the perfect 10/10 "prince charming", but "someday she'll pay the price" meaning that as she's wasting her youth away with this she's oblivious to the fact that women rapidly become less attractive as they age (and lose their fertility), and by the time she realizes and accepts this reality it'll be too late for her - she's "paid the price". She's likely had this explained to her before when she was young, but she didn't want to believe it and emotionally reacted and took it as an insult and continued in denial - she "never took advice" until it was too late. He's "seen it before, it happens all the time". Me, I've seen it before too - it does happen all the time. It's a major problem in modern society.
As a woman, I've observed two other woman who always seemed ready to leave their current boyfriends/husbands if a "better deal" arose. A man with more money, a more expensive car, larger house in a higher-income neighborhood, etc. It seemed like each new situation did not last. The next boyfriend/husband would lose his job, his business would fail, houses would be foreclosed on, etc. Children were unhappy because of the parents' choices and made bad choices of their own. I can understand wanting some sense of security, but the true love and mutual respect needs to be there.
[Edit: grammar]
I think the lyricist is saying to his or her lover that they are too preoccupied with making money (digging for gold) to develop the relationship, the real "fortune" in life. A warning follows that there is a price to pay when love is ignored.
I think this song is about a woman who decides she doesn't value the relationship as much as he does. Seems to be a recurring theme in music.........

sounds like the singer has had a few bad relationships.this and head games explain
aww poor micky i still love him
It's "a fortune IN feelings"...
i dont know whether its a snow man or a divorce or just too many relationships all going rotten on him but i thinik that it could meaan a woman thats living in a world of many people only thinking she needs herself. not wanting others to help her. waiting for the chance to get something big (gold digging) making it hard for any one to love her when she tells them that she doesn't need their help when she really does. Then one day shell realize that shes always been wrong and that she has wasted so many years just living from her own mind when you can't improve with yourself because yourself sucks.
Thats what i think of the song.
I agree with K-leb, this song is defiantly about a woman whos to preoccuiped with herself. Maybe someone who wants so much, and in this journey to accquire more, she loses out on possibly the most precious gem of all, love. Maybe she can't love, and one day she's going to realize that she wasted her youth on false dreams. The meaning reminds me of "Desperado" by the Eagles.
