Feed Jake Lyrics
I'm standing at the crossroads in life, and I don't know where to go.
You know you've got my heart babe, but my musics got my soul.
Let me play it one more time, I"ll tell the truth and make it rhyme and hope they understand me.
Chorus:
Now I lay me down to sleep
Pray the Lord my soul to keep
And if I die before I wake, Feed Jake
He's been a good dog, my best friend, right through it all
If I die before I wake, Feed Jake
Now Broadway's like a swere, bums and hookers everywhere.
WHinos passed out on the sidewalk, doesn't anybody care.
Some say he's worhtless, just let him be.
I for one would have to disagree and so would their mamas.
Chorus:
Now I lay me down to sleep
Pray the Lord my sould to keep
And if I die before I wake, Feed Jake
He's been a good dog, my best friend, right through it all
If I die before I wake, Feed Jake
Now if you get an ear pierced, some will call you gay.
But if you drive a pickup, they'll say "no, you must be striaght"
What we are and what we ain't, what we can and what we can't.
Does it really matter
Chorus:
Now I lay me down to sleep
Pray the Lord my soul to keep
And if I die before I wake, Feed Jake
He's been a good dog, my best friend, right though it all
If I die before I wake, Feed Jake
You know you've got my heart babe, but my musics got my soul.

Great classic country song. I've loved it since I was a young boy growin' up watching CMT. It means even more to me now that I've owned and lived with a dog for 2.5 years. It's strange how close you can get to a dog, but you really can. This song is also good because it talks about how closed-minded and hypocritical we can be as a society. If we were all more open-minded and weren't so quick to judge others, we'd be much better off as a society and the world would be a much better off place. I mean, who cares if two men or two women want to get married. "Does it really matter?" We're all sinners on this earth, tryin' to figure things out, and do the best that we can with the cards that we are dealt. If I die before I walk, feed Tana.
"What we are and what we aint . . . What we can and what we can't, Does it really matter?"
Pooka & Tigger too, please.
This song is about the cruelty and closed-mindedness of the world. In the verses, he speaks of how we all judge each other day in and day out. Then, in the chorus, he reverts to his dog. A dog is a great symbol of someone who loves everyone and judges no one. Gay, straight, homeless, wealthy.... a dog doesn't care. I listened to this song when I was young, and recently became reaquainted with it. It wasnt until recently that I realized how well put together this song is.
