If I Could Talk I'd Tell You Lyrics
Half past 9, quarter to 10
10:15, and we're coming' around again
Hold off are we going soft?
Flushed my Zoloft, and we're coming around again
Found out and I almost drowned
Walked back down, and we're coming around again
If I could talk I'd tell you
If I could smile I'd let you know
If I could talk I'd tell you
Khmer Rouge, genocide gua
Your place or Mein Kampf, now I'm giving the dog a bone
Slight hunch without the vaguest clue
To keep the blood balanced, now we're coming around again
1/2 past 9, quarter to 2
10:15, now we're coming around again
If I could talk I'd tell you
If I could smile I'd let you know
If I could talk I'd tell you (repeat)
If I could talk I'd tell you
If I could smile I'd let you know
You are far and away
My most imaginary friend

i read a story somewhere about this song being inspired on an interview evan dando did while being unable to speak because of a huge amount of crack he took the night before or something. anyway, great little song.
I've read that too, and also how humans can never really fully communicate what's going on with them. The verses (to me) imply that he's going through something and he doesn't really know yet what it is, so there's no way he can really explain himself.

I never really thought about this song past the chorus. I relate it to people I care about and take an interest in, even though I have never spoken to them, or rarely do :)
If I could talk I'd tell you ........is there a better line in rock and roll history?
sounds like his junk habit is on display (very distasteful drug by the by)
but a great song
