Won't you come away with me tonight?
We can fly past the moon and the starlight,
It doesn't matter where you've been before,
On a night like this,
It doesn't matter where you've been before,
I'll love you like this,
Can't you see, I won't leave,
But you have to open your eyes.
Here I stand, Take my hand,
Let go of the fear that you hold.
Don't throw your pearls to the swine tonight,
Don't let them take your innocence,
Just remember the times that I held your hand and kept you close,
Remember the times I held you up and now.
We can fly past the moon and the starlight,
It doesn't matter where you've been before,
On a night like this,
It doesn't matter where you've been before,
I'll love you like this,
Can't you see, I won't leave,
But you have to open your eyes.
Here I stand, Take my hand,
Let go of the fear that you hold.
Don't throw your pearls to the swine tonight,
Don't let them take your innocence,
Just remember the times that I held your hand and kept you close,
Remember the times I held you up and now.

East West rocks! They're my favorite band I would say, and this is my favorite song. This song, by the way, is a metaphor. The singer is God, and "she" is God's people. Which makes since, because Revelation refers to the Church as Christ's bride several times. Anyways, it's just what God is saying to His people: You're forgiven, stop worrying about stuff and just come with Me. Great song.
Although I'm an atheist, this song and "Song X" are awesome....this song, however, sounds more like something I'd write to a girl I have a crush on that I've been friends with for forever and a day.
this is such a sweet song and "uplifting"... it's so settle. i believe in god, but i dont really like christian bands (i think they're stupid) but this is the only christian band i like. they're pretty damn awesum.
I love this song. And why are christian bands stupid? Tons of christian bands rock. Ever heard of Juliana Theory or Further Seems Forever or PAX217 or 38th Parallel or Five Iron Frenzy? There are just as many good christian bands as there are others. Keep that in mind. East west rules~
on the "christian bands" note: don't just recommend the latest clone of whatever is popular in the mainstream market. Look to artists that are making concrete, original, and artistic music. some suggestions: narcissus, mike knott, the violet burning, blindside, anah aeviah, zao, dickie ochoa, dennison marrs, spoken. . .they're out there, you just have to find them
this song is awesome, but i perfer east west's harder stuff better, on the whole "christian bands" thing, The Juliana Theroy and FSF sound nothing like any secular band ive heard. the only reason FSF may sound similar is cuz they have the same lead singer as Dashboard Confessional, and saying that Christian bands are stupid is just downright immature.
Love this song...especially the "pearls to the swine" Biblical reference! Does anyone know what they say at the beginning? The sort of garbled voiceover?
I think there are two versions of this song, one with and one without the garble at the beginning. Like the one without it much more as it's a lot cleaner. Lyrics are so beautiful and so is the song... wow! [:
yeah, I think this song is about how much God loves the church. It could be about a girl too, but there seem to be a lot of things in it that seem more like something God would say to his people than someone would say to their girlfriend, like: "It doesn't matter where you've been before, I'll love you like this".
I have an alternate version of this song where there's a guy speaking in the back throughout a few parts of it. In the first part, there's an audio clip taken from Braveheart that shouts "I will not lose heart!" Then during the bridge the lead singer quotes a few passages from Psalms about God not taking his Spirit away from us. It's awesome.
