it seems to me that this song refers to that idea that we are looking for the one person we are meant to be with. what if we have already met them and something happened to make it go bad, that can't be undone? or what if we walked right by them on the street never knowing it was them? basically lost opportunities, missed chances, or still searching. also i think the second set of lyrics is probably more accurate, it seems to make more sense.

first off id like to say they are a great band great vocals, instrumental and lyrical. and i think spoon is right. i think its about missed opportunities and the possibility you could have passed your true love without ever knowing it.

This song means to me exactly what spoon said, this song really hits home with me, I know the feeling of of missing "the one". I thought I lost the one about 3 years ago, then about 3 months ago we got back together and things are better then ever, I really love her, and this song reminds me of the time when I thought I had lost her.

ok well i think spoon is right ..and its a really touching song because i think it means like what spoon says and its hard being patient and then thinking, "wow, what if i just missed the chance or lost something that was hella valuable"...knowing you missed out is really hard and it hurts ..its like this song talks about the mystery of it all .. what if ..what if... well also these guys are from my hometown ..i didnt know them just heard of them ..they are really great ..

actually, the second vs is right in the first entry as oppose to the 2nd entry, they're both right and wrong, just gotta cut them both up and peice em together and listen to the song very carefully..

there are certain parts of this song that I can really relate to...I just lost my boyfriend and our best friend in a car accident a few weeks ago. it really makes me think about them waiting for me...if I'll ever see them again...and how much I miss hearing their voices...

First off i would just like to say that this group is really really awsome. Any and every song has a meaning to it, but this one really gets me. It is really easy to relate too. I am going to have the opportunity to see them in concert 2 times this month. Some friends of mine saw them last month and the lead singer was talking about the meaning of it.....and spoon76 hit it right on the spot
