Son of a Gun Lyrics
Up up up and down
Turn turn turnaround
Round round roundabout
And over again
Gun gun son of a gun
You are the only one
Makes any difference what I say
[x2]
The sun shines in the bedroom
When we play
The raining always starts
When you go away
Up up up and down
Turn turn turnaround
Round round roundabout
And over again
Gun gun son of a gun
You are the only one
Makes any difference what I say
[x2]
The sun shines in the bedroom
When we play
The raining always starts
When you go away
Up up up and down
Turn turn turnaround
Round round roundabout
And over again
Gun gun son of a gun
You are the only one
Makes any difference what I say
[x4]
The sun shines in the bedroom
When we play
The raining always starts
When you go away
Turn turn turnaround
Round round roundabout
And over again
Gun gun son of a gun
You are the only one
Makes any difference what I say
The sun shines in the bedroom
When we play
The raining always starts
When you go away
Turn turn turnaround
Round round roundabout
And over again
Gun gun son of a gun
You are the only one
Makes any difference what I say
The sun shines in the bedroom
When we play
The raining always starts
When you go away
Turn turn turnaround
Round round roundabout
And over again
Gun gun son of a gun
You are the only one
Makes any difference what I say
The sun shines in the bedroom
When we play
The raining always starts
When you go away

Ok, so I know this isn't the real meaning of the song but this is what I get out of it:
When I was a little kid I had a friend named Connor and like me he was Autistic, though a lot more so then me so he didn't really talk. Well if you don't know, many people with Autism do something called "stimming" (self-stimulation) in other words they repeat a particular movement to stimulate their senses or to calm down (for example I rock back and forth).
Anyways, the stimming Connor would do was just like the chorus of the song; he would jump up and down spinning around while swinging his arms.
So whenever I heard this song (original or Nirvana cover) that's what it makes me think of, since the first version I heard was Nirvana's when I was a kid I'm putting it here.
Sorry, I once read. Not 'was'.
I LOVE IT!
no its GONE GONE son of a gun... i think.... oh well whatever, this isnt the best vaselines song in the world, plus he kind of changed it around a bit
Well, is it a cover now or what? If it wasn't i'd guess the reason for kurt to have a happy tune to the song is because he means it ironical.
Guns were always in his life, his stepfather had guns, and later he had guns, every gun for one reportet or someone he hated, because they slways wrote shit about him in articles...... so maybe he thought he was a son of a gun.
Is it really needed to bad mouth? Can't you guys keep this civilized? I see too much of this recently.
Cool it down.

yeah, what's ur problem?
are u sure kurt named her daughter after her?
I'm sure you think he named Frances after Frances Farmer but what Blackstar said is true. Kurt gave Frances the middle name Bean because that's what she looked like in the ultra sound photo things.
BTW I love this song. I think it's their best cover.
I reckon that the "sun shines in the bedroom when we play" line refers to sex and how happy the guy is when he's with his girl and they're having a good time;) And when his girl leaves he feels down and misses her. I love it how the "up, up, up and down" part of the song sounds like a whole lotta nonsense or like a kids rhyme or something. It's rad.
