Distant Sun Lyrics

Tell me all the things you would change
I don't pretend to know what you want
when you come around and spin my top
time and again, time and again

No fire where I lit my spark
I am not afraid of the dark
Where your words devour my heart
And put me to shame, put me to shame

When your seven worlds collide
Whenever I'm by your side
Dust from a distant sun
will shower over everyone

Still so young to travel so far
Old enough to know who you are
Wise enough to carry the scars
Without any blame, there's no one to blame

It's easy to forget what you learned
Waiting for the thrill to return
Feeling your desire burn
And drawn to the flame

When your seven worlds collide
Whenever I'm by your side
Dust from a distant sun
will shower over everyone
Dust from a distant sun
will shower over everyone

And I'm lying on the table
Washed out in a flood
Like a Christian feeling vengeance from above
I don't pretend to know what you want
But I offer love

Seven worlds will collide
Whenever I'm by your side
Dust from a distant sun
Will shower over everyone

This song targets my heart & soul. It's a beautiful song, but OTOH it always brings me to tears because it describes what I've been through in my life as I searched for my soul mate.

Not once, but twice in my life, I met a woman that I felt love for deep into my soul. In both cases, I did what I thought was the "right thing" and I dated the woman for a year. After that year I decided to propose. It almost crushed me when she said no. But I picked myself up & moved on with my life. Only to meet another woman that I would fall deeply in love with. Again, I dated her for a year and put all kinds of energy & love into the relationship. Only to have the exact same thing happen to me again when I went to propose. "I don't pretend to know what you want."

Today I am 59 years old, and still alone. I still enjoy this song because it describes my life path of seeking a loving relationship. It may bring out my sad emotions, but at the same time I know "I offer love."

Thanks for this song, Neil.

It's about Margaret Downs. The background of the song that Neil lived above a "muso's house in Milwsyn St South Yarra and this is associated with the lament of Andrew losing the one and truly love of his live to another state.(they were 15) The later song published was in 93 but verifiable.

I always thought it was "Wise enough to carry the scars without and pain, there's no one to blame." Funny, that line as I heard it has been such an inspiration to me throughout my life to take responsibility for my own failures and not show that they hurt me in any way. I will continue to sing the song the way I heard it because it means so much to me.

It's such a beautiful, uplifting song and I love playing it for my two sons.

My take on this song, is that it's about a guy who has been friend-zoned by the woman he is deeply in love with.

The line in the lyrics 'Like a Christian feeling vengeance from above', the word is 'fearing', not 'feeling'. It's not allowing me to edit the lyrics.

Perhaps the OP will see this and amend it

I always wondered if this was a song from a parent to a teen. For example ' still so young to travel so far, old enough to know who you are.' And when the hormones hit, I sure as heck feel like I'm under so.ething akin to vengeance from God 🤣

A very nice song. It reminds me of old times, when I wasn't so troubled, and my life was so more simple... Now gives me some peace, though is about a relationshio, and in that time, I was lonely, just like I am now...
