Brena Lyrics
My reflection
Wraps and pulls me under
Healing waters to be
Bathed in Brena
Guide me safely in
Worlds I've never been to
Heal me, heal me
My dear Brena
Vulnerable!
It's alright!
Heal me, heal me
My dear Brena
Show me lonely and
Show me openings to
Bring me closer to you
My dear Brena
Vulnerable!
It's alright!
Opening to
Heal
Opening to
Heal
Heal
Wraps and pulls me under
Healing waters to be
Bathed in Brena
Guide me safely in
Worlds I've never been to
Heal me, heal me
My dear Brena
It's alright!
My dear Brena
Show me lonely and
Show me openings to
Bring me closer to you
My dear Brena
It's alright!
Heal

this is one of my all time favorite songs. I definitely agree with the island with healing waters..but i think he uses it somewhat as a metaphor for his wife. I think it's about him wanting her to embrace him and love him and heal him and take all of his pain away. As for the vulnerable line...if you have ever been in love with someone, and are telling them at first, you are putting yourself out there, and are completely vulnerable. That person could make or break you. In this song he is reaching out for his wife, and is completely vulnerable and he just wants her to accept him.
atleast that is what this song means to me.
Maynard is the best artist i have ever heard, and his songs, they have more than one meaning to any of them, i mean come on is the greatest man alive. His voice is great, the guitar solos are great, any band he has done anything with have become great. I mean look, he worked with APC, Tool, and Deftones, and they are all great bands. But that is my opinion, and may be a lot of other peoples, dont discriminate though.
sometimes... i listen to the song... and i listen pass the lyrics... this is definetly one of those songs... i enjoy it tremendously... it doesn't make me happy, sad, depressed, or anything... i just get this blah feeling of emptiness... and weirdly i love it
@AMiEMOorNOT I 100% get what you are saying... this song relaxes me, almost puts me to sleep it's so methodical. While I enjoy the lyrics, and anything Maynard does - something about this song just makes me feel... nothing. i'm usually enjoying a bottle of wine or an edible and you can just zone out and go everywhere and nowhere at the same time. Your post was perfect.

yes i believe your right....the song is a comparison berween Jennifer and the island itself...the song is beuatifully done and my favorite track on the c.d. simply because of it's miraculous creativity and structure of words...
i agree... the guitar solo at the end makes me melt.
maynard i believe is the best artist ive ever heard.
Wow. This song is just incredible. It's genius. Everything from the warm sound of the guitars to the simple, but healing lyrics. It's like a lullaby. I swear I go to sleep every night listening to this song. The best closing track (temporarily disregarding "Over" for the moment) I've ever heard on a cd.
geez this song is great...simply amazing
this song means alot to me and he describes a certain mental condition so well that you cannot do anything more than agree...well, maybe you do not know what i mean...let me just say that it is a marvelous piece of music.
Emma
I think I know exactly what mental state you're talking about. Ive been struggling with it for a few months.. I'm not sure what it is. I seem to relate to passive in the same way, you know what I mean?
