Threw you the obvious
And you flew with it on your back
A name in your recollection
Down among a million same

Difficult not to feel a little bit
Disappointed and passed over
When I look right through
To see you naked but oblivious
And you don't see me

But I threw you the obvious
Just to see if there's more behind
The eyes of a fallen angel
Eyes of a tragedy

Here I am expecting
Just a little bit too much from the wounded
but I see, see through it all
See through, see you

'Cause I threw you the obvious
to see what occurs behind
the Eyes of a fallen angel
Eyes of a tragedy

Oh well, oh well
Apparently nothing
Apparently nothing at all

You don't, you don't, you don't see me
You don't, you don't, you don't see me
You don't, you don't, you don't see me
You don't, you don't, you don't see me
You don't see me
You don't, you don't
You don't see me at all

Thew you the obvious, (HE PLAINLY LOVED HER & SHOWED IT IN EVERY WAY BUT NEVER SAID IT) And you flew with it on your back, (SHE KNEW BUT SHE IGNORED IT & HIM, JUST GOING ON W/ HER LIFE) A name in your recollection (THEY KNEW EACH OTHER IN THE PAST & HE'S JUST A NAME TO HER) Down among a million same (SHE CHALKS HIM UP TO BEING LIKE ANYONE ELSE, HE'S NOT SPECIAL TO HER)

Difficult not to feel a little bit Disappointed and passed over When I look right through To see you naked but oblivious (THIS IS PRETTY OBVIOUS, HE SEES HER FOR HER BEAUTY AND THE TRUE BEAUTY HE KNOWS IN INSIDE HER ALTHOUGH SHE ACTS SHALLOW HE KNOWS THERE'S MORE THERE AND HE'S DISAPPOINTED IN HER ACTIONS. HE'S DISAPPOINTED SHE DOESN'T SEE HOW HE FEELS AND THAT SHE IGNORES IT, ESPECIALLY WHEN HE KNOWS HER SO MUCH MORE DEEPLY THAN OTHERS DO. HE'S ALWAYS THERE FOR HER EVERY WHIM BUT SHE DOESN'T SEE WHY HE DOES EVERYTHING FOR HER, HE FEELS NEGLECTED)

    And you don't see me

But I threw you the obvious just to See if there's more behind the Eyes of a fallen angel Eyes of a tragedy (HE TRIED TO LET HER SEE HOW HE FEELS W/OUT TELLING HER TO SEE IF SHE COULD FIGURE IT OUT. HE SEES HER AS A FALLEN ANGEL B/C ALTHOUGH HE'S IN LOVE WITH HER HE'S ANGRY W/ HER AND IS NOTICING THAT SHE'S NOT OPEN TO SEEING HOW HE FEELS ABOUT HER. THE WHOLE THING IS A TRAGEDY)

Here I am expecting just a little bit Too much from the wounded But I see, seeing through it all Seeing through, see you (HE'S NOW THINKING THAT HE SHOULD GIVER HER ANOTHER CHANCE TO SEE HOW HE FEELS B/C SHE'S BEEN WOUNDED AND HURT. HE'S SEES THROUGH HER BEING SHALLOW AND UNKNOWING AND KNOWS THAT SHE HAS TO KNOW HOW HE FEELS. HE SEES HER, ALL THE GOOD IN HER. HER WOUNDS DON'T WAIVER HIS LOVE. HE KNOWS THAT SHE HAS FEELINGS FOR HIM THAT SHE KEEPS HIDDEN.)

Oh well (OH WELL, HE'S GIVEN UP ON HER EVER BEING ABLE TO LOVE HIM. HE'S STILL GONNA LET HER USE HIM B/C HE LIKES THE FACT THAT SHE NEEDS HIM AND EVEN THOUGH IT HURTS HIM, IT GIVES HIM THE CHANCE TO BE W/ HER THE ONLY WAY SHE LETS HIM. OH WELL IF IT HURTS, HE'LL TAKE ALL THE PAIN FOR THE FEW MOMENTS OF HAPPINESS IT GIVES HIM TO SEE HER GLEAM B/C HE'S BEEN THERE FOR HER.)

Apparently nothing Apparently nothing at all (HE'S REALISED THAT THERE'S NOTHING INNSIDE OF HER, NO HEART. SHE'S EMPTY AND THAT SHE'S ACTUALLY MORE SHALLOW THAN HE KNEW. SHE'S BARE AND SELF CENTERED, ONLY CONCERNED ABOUT HERSELF AND HER ENJOYMENT AND HAPPINESS AND SHE CAN'T THINK ABOUT OTHERS AROUND HER.)

You don't, you don't, you don't see me You don't, you don't, you don't see me You don't, you don't, you don't see me You don't, you don't, you don't see me

You don't see me You don't You don't

You don't see me at all (HE'S PLEADING WITH HER INSIDE HIS HEART AND HEAD. SHE DOESN'T SEE HIM AND HE WANTS HER TO SO BAD, HE LONGS FOR HER TO NOTICE HIM AND HIS FEELINGS. LISTEN TO THE WAY MAYNARD SINGS THIS PART... YOU DON'T SEE ME... OVER AND OVER AGAIN, YOU CAN HEAR THE LONGING AND THE EMOTION AND HURT IN HIS VOICE. REALLY, IN THIS HE'S SAYING, SCREAMING OUT TO HER SEE ME!! SEE ME!! PLEASE SEE ME!!)

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

When We Were Young
Blink-182
This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
