This is a great song that's well known for being on the soundtrack for "Sleepless in Seatle." The movie is just okay (good for getting girls in the mood i suppose), but the soundtrack is awesome. I am the one that submitted this song and I certainly like it alot, but I disagree with the message a little. I believe that ever-lasting relationships that make people happy should not be limited to only one person. I have close friends that I simply love, they have changed my life and made me happy. Try to make every good friend you know happy, they will return the same.

@selfwilledfate I agree there needs to be reciprocity for things to work out. The simplicity of the approach speaks to what one person can control, tho'. Be selfless: make them happy. It appeals to our heart that selfless love can win them by simply placing them first.

Our cynical world wants us to "get ours". This song says "give them theirs" and you will be happy as well. Our broken world means this will not always be true, but it CAN be true.

It's a clarion call to a world that says "get yours" and "if the other person doesn't meet your needs, find someone who will".

It's a hopeful song that calls for us personally to live for our partner's best life, knowing that somehow, that will make us happy too.
