Perfect Day Lyrics

** featuring Elton John **

There she stumbles
Falling to her knees
I think she tripped on reality

I have witnessed
Tragic comedies
That's the world in which she leads

Well I would walk a million miles
To give her all that she needs
But she would walk a million more
To do what she believes

She'll have a perfect day

Troubles blooming
Innocence now fades
But still she's dry through
All the rain

There's no purpose
She has yet to crave
She's like the big dog on parade

Well I would walk a million miles
To give her all that she needs
She would walk a million more
To do well as she pleased

She had a perfect day

I can't figure this one out
I've no words here to explain
She'll just sugar kiss me off
She'll just have another perfect day

This one describes my ex-girlfriend to a T. Always would rather do it her way. You might go to great lengths to help her out, but she'd just do it her way & feel completely content and unashamed that she didn't accept your offering.

No matter how bad her day, or her life is at this point, she'll find a way to get through it. She's a tough cookie!

After I left my abusive husband I was finally able to do things on my own and do them as I saw fit;) It was a glorious time which still defines who I am as a person. I remember thinking that as long as it was MY day that it would be a perfect one. And they always are.

@Rbeals76 This was your perfect day when you were able to leave your abusive father by getting married Jx

This may or mY not be an added dimension to the song meaning? They have many Christian songs. Some folks don't know that and they miss out on some of the song meanings. The person leaving the comment about his daughter probably knows but if you know a little about living the Christian life, sometimes God gives you a wonderful blessed "perfect day" and it seems we go out of our way to make our own perfect day. Messing it all up.

I love this song...It is a true feel-good song. There's no song that I like better at the end of a bad day than this song...It always puts me in a good mood. Collective Soul plain and simple makes good music.

It's talking about his daughter, whom he always helps out, but who's very determined in life, and is always happy in life no matter what happens because she's got a positive perspective no matter what.

to dariofoo's comment, I agree that they could do this song just as well with Elton John but they were fans of his and found out that he was a fan of theirs so the band met with Elton John for dinner and after dinner and wine they started talking about doing a collaboration. Thats what I read from an interview anyways.

@lparke13 Yes and I do believe after all was said and done with this song, Sir Elton sent Ed a Baby Grand Piano.....or at least that's what I heard anyway ...

This song is obviously about someone, in this case a girl/woman, who is just stumbling through life with no purpose or goal. They have no real cares so, will always have a perfect day...at everyone else's expense. I know a million people like this song describes and the rate is accelerating.
