Star Slight Lyrics
sailing all alone, guided by starlight
nowhere is my home
inside of my mind
we've paid that shoeshine boy
whose buff has no smile
he spits on your tip-toes
and you keep hugging folklore
like it's out of style, out of focus
harum scarum
we promote this cover, discover
and you know your insides true
better than i do
nowhere is my home
inside of my mind
we've paid that shoeshine boy
whose buff has no smile
he spits on your tip-toes
and you keep hugging folklore
like it's out of style, out of focus
harum scarum
we promote this cover, discover
and you know your insides true
better than i do

but i cant seem to follow the lyrics :'(
i don't have the slightest (no pun intended) idea what this song means, but everytime i start up the "Acrobatic Tenement" CD this song always seems to greet me with a handshake and a punch.
This song is about a person who is all alone because they are not following tradition. "We promote this cover, discover" is saying that he is in the right, and that the person it is talkng about knows him/herself to be right as well.
That seems like a good explanation to me. The stars light is his own path. The screamer guy is talking about allthe people who conform maybe? Anyway I wish the song was longer I cant get enough of it. ATDI-SPARTA!
this song is awesome. and so was at the drive-in
i think this song is just about travelling around with no destination for the sake of just getting away
i love this song :)
AHHH i love this song:) it's so.... sweet in a way well in my way it makes me feel happy and sad at the same time WOW they were an amazing band!!:(
"sailing all alone, guided on by starslight nowhere is my home inside of my mind "
His mind is set free and his thoughts will direct him. The thoughts he has are of his own and it is he and only he who will come up with his own ideals, opinions, and thoughts.
"we've paid that shoeshine boy whose buff has no smile he spits on your tip-toes and you keep hugging folklore like it's out of style, out of focus harum scarum "
We have all let somebody else at some point polish a thought for us. They've made the decision on what we were to do because you were afraid of stepping outside the cliched box.
"we promote this cover, discover"
Discover...yourself and your own mind.
"and you know your insides true better than i do"
These lyrics are somewhat flawed, where as it is more of a question, Jim actually does say "do you know..." at a few points. The other time's it is like he is directing somebody to know themselves.
Pretty simple song, great opener. Great cover by The Impossibles as well check that out.
