Fahrenheit Lyrics
kid creole killed all of his own people
instigate the beat genuflecting
in the steeple
video killed what we
once
stood for
who we gonna look to now?
if these walls could speak
i wouldn't tell them anything
don't ask me, don't ask me
press eject, and give me the tape
if you know what's good for you
ghetto blasting on the basement floor
instigate the beat genuflecting
in the steeple
video killed what we
once
stood for
who we gonna look to now?
i wouldn't tell them anything
don't ask me, don't ask me
if you know what's good for you

I had this thought that popped into my head...
Is this song talking about the way hollywood and their stereotypes are defacing certain cultures and ethnic groups?
It's about the Cane River Creole, who run the oldest Creole church in America called St. Augustine. This is in Natchitoches...who are well aware of this band according to personalized plates I've seen. I am actually "kid creole". Other bands have lyrics like this, but ATDI and the Mars Volta push it as far as it goes...which is somewhere around nicotine. Technically, this process is called "Millennial Prophecy". 3 6 Mafia out of Memphis is a good Millennial Prophecy group, they talk about Obama back in 1997. Clouds...
I love this song. it's awesome.
atdisucks, why dont you go whine about your low inteligence and inablity to understand atdi somewhere else, this is a site for people to share SONGMEANINGS. this is one of my favorite songs and you have no place naively calling it "shitty," maybe you are to blind to see that they kept making cds because they are a great band! it is sad some people are so close-minded.
neverrunner, tell him like it is.
Yep, a brilliant song, one of their best.
i think the chorus line "if these walls could speak i wouldnt tell them anything" means that he has secrets ti keep that the walls have seen, you know like how many murders etc. have walls seen and if they could speak they would tell wouldnt they???
I thought this song was about Kidd Creole of Grandmaster Flash. He was arrested for killing a homeless guy. "Ghetto blasting on the basement flooooor!!!"
i think this song is about role models but not like sports and actors. the steeple in line 3 could be a reference to the chruch and how they are not looked up to like they used to be hence line 7 who we gonna look to now be hollywood and sports. the second stanza doesnt have to have a mean to me, if these walls could speak, i wouldnt tell them anything and i feel like that a lot. the thirds stanza is about how things get covered up to protect the stupid hollywood and sports role models, the tape being evidence in a case or something or a reference to the lost reagan tapes? an other cover up i think. just another song proving atdi is the best ban ever!
---> the tape being ejected. take out the tape, turn off the tv...etc. Bring it back to the basics...away from medias influence. We used to look up to people with real substance, now the media has killed that with the superficial role models. ATDI says here, take out the tape, and look deeper.
