For Now...We Toast Lyrics
it's hit or miss upon the gate walls
are the guards asleep, bayonet and all
are the search lights coming
we built this tunnel
we shovel with our hands
dig just a little bit, the camp is vast asleep
library laundromats
inside the dirty sheets
dig just a little bit
soup kitchen feeds
lines of stubble and marrow
a book of matches guides us home
do they have our scent, will we go home
we shovel with our hands
dig just a little bit, the camp is vast asleep
library laundromat
dig just a little big, the camp is vast asleep
library laundromat
live just a little bit
dakota fields will beg
meet you on the other side
dig just a little bit
they steamrolled past the lobby
did you trip on your shoelace untied
it's in the past...and now we toast.
dig just a little bit, the camp is vast asleep
live just a little bit
dakota fields will beg
meet you on the other side
winnepeg's a forest
where the search and seizure hid
wanted for the crime of the disease that you give
wanted for the crime of the disease that you give
are the guards asleep, bayonet and all
are the search lights coming
we built this tunnel
we shovel with our hands
library laundromats
inside the dirty sheets
dig just a little bit
lines of stubble and marrow
a book of matches guides us home
do they have our scent, will we go home
we shovel with our hands
library laundromat
dig just a little big, the camp is vast asleep
library laundromat
live just a little bit
dakota fields will beg
meet you on the other side
dig just a little bit
did you trip on your shoelace untied
it's in the past...and now we toast.
live just a little bit
dakota fields will beg
meet you on the other side
winnepeg's a forest
where the search and seizure hid
wanted for the crime of the disease that you give
wanted for the crime of the disease that you give

It`s about the Great Escape, stop trying to be a smartass and pick up a history book. "Libary laundromat inside the dirty sheets" refers to the library of different kinds of dirt that staind the clothing of the soldiers trying to escape the German prison camp by digging tunnels.
God I love this song. :D
Anyway, if this song is indeed about the government silencing free thinkers (which it seems to be), it makes me wonder why ATDI would think that it's a problem in the US- obviously it can't be if they're making a song about it that millions listen to. People run rampant all across the country saying anarchist things- people publicly critiscize our own leader every day without so much as an eyelash bat from the government. Now I'm not saying our government can do no wrong- far from it, but if ATDI saw the government suppressing people who had negative views of our leadership (seriously, who doesn't at times), they saw ssomething I'm not. Oh well- whatever message they're trying to get acorss, this is an incredibly good song. :)
This song is one of ATDIs best. The lyrics are incredible. Lines like "Library laundromats Inside the dirty sheets".
the obvious meaning (at least to me) is that this is about an escape from prison or some kind of camp. but who knows the real meaning.
This song is similar to Quarantined in meaning. The prison they are in, are the camps of the "disease" which is some sort of idea (anti-government or sumthin). Library laundromats...ill explain. A laundromat is where you wash your dirty clothes, well the library contains books, info, knowledge, ideas... See what im getting at? They are filtering out specific literature so that ideas cant get through to the people. Book burnings if you will.
There does seem to be historical significance, but I also think there is a theme of redemption here. Although this seems overly simplistic for the average ATDI song, it makes sense... it doesn't matter what fears, people, or ideas "imprisoned" you beforehand, because now it's "in the past".
this song has nothing to do with escaping a prison. it is about how wwe become handicapped by the information fed to us filter by gov. and then real research has to be secret. hit or miss is how well it is protected and how well the new unfilter info helps us-inmate break out of niavete-prison. the whole first stanza follows this idea. library laundromats has already been explained to fit my definition. the last 2 lines sum it all up. the gov chases down the free thinkers and silences them to maintain their information monolopy. the disease is free thinking and in my opinion that is no crime! but the gov sees it differently, disregarding rights to maintain it power! wow i think i am turning into an anarchist! atdi rules!
wow, i am about as misunderstood as Bill O"Reilly. this is a site to post what you think songs mean and not complain about your inablity to understand songs. why dont you just stop posting. i dont have to completely sure i am right when people like you prove many of my points.
"this song is about why ATDI sucks. They were all sitting at home and and one of said" Damn! we suck". And the rest were like yeah. so they wrote a song. and it sucked."-TheMadLiteralist
quoted for being blatantly wrong. Awesome song, but i don't see how it could be about anarchy.
What is it with you people and thinking EVERYTHING is about how evil the government is? Simple fact is, the government isn't half as powerful as you guys seem to think (at least not here in the States, I don't know where everbody here is from), and I personally think that ATDI is a little deeper than just "teh govn't iz lieing to j00, doodz!"
