The Age Of Pamparius Lyrics

From the ashes of this golden age of confusion,
the denim recruits came to be
known as the apocalypse dudes.

So you think you had an Opera
So you think you had a Napoli
So you think you had a decent pizza
Well not like this

You got nothing to lose at Pamparius

So you think you had a calzone
So you thought you could make your own
So you thought you could take it home
Well not like this

You got nothing to lose at Pamparius
gonna wear them happy shoes tonight
You got nothing to lose at Pamparius
Gonna bake a motherfucking pizza tonight
Apocalypse dudes got nothing to lose
Gonna stomp some teenage ass tonight
Apocalypse dudes got nothing to lose
Gonna bake some motherfucking magic
tonight

I'm surprised this song hasn't been properly explained. It's the one true turning point in Turbonegro history and represents not only the evolution of the band in philosophy and appearance, but a change in it's musical direction as a whole. After this album, Turbonegro exploded in popularity and rightfully so. But not only is this song where the change happened, but it tells the story of Turbonegro's transformation. Without the events that unfolded in story told in the lyrics of "The Age of Pamparius", Turbonegro wouldn't be nearly the same band as they are today.

PÃ¥l Pot Pamparius left Turbonegro to conquer his life long dream of owning a pizza restaurant. The pizza restaurant kicked major ass and they made awesome calzones. This song actually has a time line. The intro is a summary of the complete events: Pamparius Pizza was a bad ass, completely rockin' pizza joint...when Turbonegro lost one of it's founders, it also lost it's direction. There was a "golden age of confusion". They were simple denim recruits. Yes, they were quite the bad ass band, but their full potential wasn't to be known. Everything before the guitar solo represents this era of the band.

PÃ¥l Pot Pamparius rejoined Turbonegro at 12 midnight. His arrival brought magic back into the Turbonegro recipe...they were no longer denim recruits, but had evolved into full fledged Apocalypse Dudes. And thus, they celebrated by kicking the shit out of teenagers.

This song is written about the return of Pal Pot Pomparius to the band, who, after they broke up after "Ass Cobra" went to start a pizza joint in Oslo called Pamparius Pizza.

PÃ¥l went away on a trip around the world (Or something), the band didn't broke up until after Apocalypse dudes, you know Euroboy replaced him and it's not in Oslo. Sorry dude just the way it is... Anyway, I've been there and the Calzone is awesome... :)
