I think this song has something to do with friends that stay together and support each other. The memories we have of our friends are priceless and bring comfort and we stand by our friends for the long haul.

yeah i agree csoulman it is about friends, but i think that the song might be trying to go in the direction of losing a friend. Wondering how some friends are gained and lost.

I think this song hints about something that ended without closure, then he runs into the person 10 years later and hence the line 'Does my memory comfort you while your eyes see me through? Well, it's ten years later and still, I haven't a clue.' It ended abruptly and unexpectantly. There were no words of reassurance which would lead him to believe that she actually cared for him, but just wasn't 'into' him. There were no words of degradation to suggest that she couldn't stand him. Therefore, no closure, leaving him to wonder how his memory affects her, good or bad. He just doesn't know and it saddens him.
