Flamenco Lyrics
Does it diminish your
super-capacity to love
Walk like a matador,
don't be chicken-shit
and turn breezes into rivulets
flamenco-sweep the air
and weave the sun
and stamp your feet for everyone
Does it exhibit your
natural tendency to hate
Maybe a prostitute
could teach you
how to take a compliment
maybe I'll go to New York,
I'll drag you there
you said, "no one drags me
anywhere"
Does it diminish your
super-capacity to love
super-capacity to love
don't be chicken-shit
and turn breezes into rivulets
and weave the sun
and stamp your feet for everyone
natural tendency to hate
could teach you
how to take a compliment
I'll drag you there
you said, "no one drags me
anywhere"
super-capacity to love

this is one of my absolute favourite songs and i've never been able to determine exactly why. to me, it's a great song for a midnight drive, but it's also a great song to remind me of humility. for all the posturing we do, what are we, really?
What is "it"? It seems to be an element of her personality. Narcissism and ambition are two that may fit.
This is some great poetry. Every stanza is thought-provoking. It goes well with the calm music.
This is one of my favourite Hip tunes - although I confess I have many. I think "IT" refers to his lover's pride, although narcissism could be a good second choice. I love this version with Kate Fenner - she provides the perfect balance to the song.
