Trickle Down Lyrics
old lion's dying, got left behind
cut your teeth, lose your meat
and man it's just a matter of time
key's to the cuffs, you might be king
that's it, that's all, that's everything
skeletons come here to dance
where barrooms beat their brothers
into a bloody trance
what's the deal? what did I do?
who cops all the cops is all I asked of you
lining up, waiting on the trickle down
something's up, taking time to get around
belly up, all the drinks are on the crown
it's just a matter of trickle down
twenty miles before the crash
that's the style for a while
and man I think it's gonna last
"hit the brakes" is all you can say
conductor says we'll save them
for another rainy day
cut your teeth, lose your meat
and man it's just a matter of time
key's to the cuffs, you might be king
that's it, that's all, that's everything
where barrooms beat their brothers
into a bloody trance
what's the deal? what did I do?
who cops all the cops is all I asked of you
something's up, taking time to get around
belly up, all the drinks are on the crown
it's just a matter of trickle down
that's the style for a while
and man I think it's gonna last
"hit the brakes" is all you can say
conductor says we'll save them
for another rainy day

not sure about this song, but i love the beat to it. From what i gather from the course, its seems like some kind politcal image. In my mind i see a king high up on a pyramid while the regular people not so well-off line up to recieve there peice of bread and cup of water from the king who controls the wealth of the people. He has all the food and luxury we wants, but only gives the people enoug hto keep them alive.
Anyone else have any more thought?
The title says a lot about this song, it's about the effect of trickle down economics which gives more money to the wealth and assumes that they will give it to their worker in the form of higher wages and more, this as the song states usually never comes. So more people end up on EI and welfare.
This song generally evokes a bar in a less well-off or rural area of Canada full of EI and welfare recipients on payment day. Belly up! All the drinks are on the crown! There's no new jobs in town, so we all take our cheques to the bar for the night!
Gord introduces this one as "A song about pissing on someone's head"
