denmark.... that's why I love incubus! not only is it full of kickass musicians.... but an intellectually advanced singer who writes amazing lyrics!!! hahaha and Harry, I see where you're comin from, but loosen up! He's not saying unlearn EVERYTHING!! hehe. He just wants us to unlearn stupid things that only hurt mankind.. like racism, and that everyone falls into a set category and can't move (like a caste system), and to follow tradition just so as not to make a wave and possibly stir up some new ideas. I love this song!! and it's soo compelling

I think this song and "Under My Umbrella" from the next album, Morning View, are tied together somehow. They both start with a count-off, the music sounds similar (though "Out from Under" is funkier, cause that was their style then), they're at the end of both albums, and of course, the names: "Out from Under" + "Under My Umbrella" = "Out from Under My Umbrella.
Plus they both seem to be about resistance. "Why do I defy? Because my inner voice is yelling." and "There is a fist pressing against anyone who thinks something compelling." both from "Out from Under" and then this from "Under My Umbrella" - "These eyes are not your eyes" and "Under my umbrella I'm an accomplished exile".

I love the lyrics of this song! It is a great example of alliteration "See the Sky", assonance "to resIst Is to pIss In the wInd", & consonance "to reSiSt iS to piSS". All of those repeated sounds are packed into one clever little song--it's poetry!

This song is excellent it is so great to rock out to and the lyrics and awesome it says "To resist is to piss in the wind, Any one who does will end up smelling" It is so true if you stand up against something you are marked for ever
im listenin to this song now...my favourite part is where he says 'there is a fist pressing against anyone who thinks something compelling'..especially when he says 'against' sounds so raw and ..just so good...
