I read in a music mag that Ian said that this song is just what the opening line says, he says that "its about when u hear a song and say OH fuck yeh this song reminds me of ?? so and so...etc.. and so he wrote a song about it. basically it's about how some songs give u nestalgia.. (probably bad spelling) anyways, yeh, but a great serious and enjoyable tune.
^ Exactly. This was the song that I think took me back the most after that first heartbreak. Now I don't miss the person anymore, but it still brings me back to this one certain day I had with them when this song was stuck in my head, and it reminds me of that day, and I get this weird hollow feeling, even though I've completely moved on... I hate the feeling, but it's like I need to listen to this song every once in a while to get that feeling, just because I don't want to push the memory completely out of my mind. Ugh.

This song is a metaphor about liking a song but the underlying meaning seems that he liked a previous relationship that he had with someone. Very cleverly written.
