Jurassitol Lyrics

Hey old man got something for you
change your mind gonna' make you take it
your mistake is something you own
I'm the one who's gonna' take it
Hey old man got something for you
hey old man got a real good tip
something's wrong and you don't know it
when will you learn
I'm not your boy
you don't look back
why do I pick up your slack
thats just fine just leave it like that
bust your wallet while I break my back
save your life with your life support
you know me I'll pick up that
Hey old man got something for you
hey old man got a real good tip
something's wrong and I guess you called it
thanks alot because now I own it
when will you learn
I'm not your boy
you don't look back
why do I pick up your slack
when will you learn
I'm not your boy
you don't look back
why do I pick up your slack
Will she pay my debts
got your picture in my hands
god you are so truly old
thanks alot my future is sold
when will you learn
I'm not your boy
when will you learn
I'm not your boy
hey old man got something for you
hey old man got it real good tip
hey old man got something for you
hey old man got it real good tip

It's about how much you hate people that are older than you. Geritol and Jurassic, and is consistent with the anti-old people message of the song. How they get rich while the younger generation has to work. The concept of the song is based on the idea of "the young man taking a step back while the old man walks by."

First off, we will hopefully all be old someday and if we cant take care of ourselves you'd think we'd hope to be taken care of just as we are taken care of when we were too young to take care of ourselves. That aside, my take on this song is countries are ran and controlled by old men looking out for their own agenda and getting rich off of the youth. Laws change and wars are fought so these old greedy bastards can get richer. In doing this they leave a wreck in their wake for the younger generations to clean up. The song should be an inspiration to take back our country from these rich heartless bastards. The top earning 1% of the U.S. has more wealth than the bottom 95%. If we get organized the 1% is in some deep trouble. Sign me up for that war.

The song is more generalized than a specific father and son relationship. It's about how the older generation lives out their lives without any concern or consideration of the younger generation to follow. A couple of good examples: Here in the US, I always see this big SUV on my way to work. The older lady that drives it has two bumper stickers, one says "DRILL NOW" with a phallic spurting oil well, the other Bumper sticker says "WORLDS BEST GRANDMA". Now I don't need to convince anyone that oil is a limited resource and that it will run out in due time. So here you have this grandma promoting the mass exploitation of resources that the next generation will need by her consumer and political choices.. yet at the same time saying how she is such a great grandma.

Another area is health care. Is it fair for todays youth / workers to have to pay for the older generations health care ( a major theme throughout Jurrasitol )? I think it is fair if the older generation makes health choices that will lesson the burden on the following generations - things like not smoking, not being an alcoholic, not being a fat ass. Most of our health care dollars our rolled up in taking care of people in the last year of their life - which is fair and just.. we don't want a "Logans-Run" type world where old folks are left to die or are euthanized. But the old folks owe us something in return; they / we all need to take care of ourselves, and our environment to lesson the burden of our choices on the following generations.

This song is an angry cry from the younger generations aimed at the older ones. The rich older men focus on making more money without a thought as to what burdens they are placing on the backs of others, including their own children. The issues they cause are passed down to their successors when they die.

"Hey- let's take one of our old songs, move a couple notes around, speed it up, keep "hey" and "man" in there, and everybody will think we're the shit still."

Rehash. And Rich knew it.

My Opinion

Rather than being a generalised subject, I'd heard that this song is very specifically about Richard's father and the fact they never got on. Wish I could remember where though.

it's about his father and how his father still thinks his son is a little boy even though his son is picking up his father's slack. This song is blaming his father for hardships while telling him what he has done to his life. Cool song from Crow: City of Angels.

I agree with the whole father thing. "when will you learn I'm not your boy"... basically disowning his father finally.
