I have felt the comfort
Now what did I do to disappoint you?
Idle my emptiness
And it keeps returning to remind me
That I want to remain
A child with you forever
And here as you lay before me
You tease me and tell me to say
What would you give?
What would you give?
I have given everything I could
And I don't think it really even matters
Maybe nothing does
And it keeps returning to remind me
That I want to remain
A child with you forever
And here as you lay before me
You tease me and tell me to say
What would you give?
What would you give?
That I want to remain
A child with you forever
And here as you lay before me
You tease me and tell me to say
What would you give?
What would you give?
What would you give?
What would you give?
Oh what would you give
Now what did I do to disappoint you?
Idle my emptiness
And it keeps returning to remind me
A child with you forever
And here as you lay before me
You tease me and tell me to say
What would you give?
What would you give?
And I don't think it really even matters
Maybe nothing does
And it keeps returning to remind me
A child with you forever
And here as you lay before me
You tease me and tell me to say
What would you give?
What would you give?
A child with you forever
And here as you lay before me
You tease me and tell me to say
What would you give?
What would you give?
What would you give?
What would you give?
Oh what would you give

I've always imagined a Great Expectations situation. A young man is head over heels for a girl but she keeps teasing and abusing him for her enjoyment. And now he's realizing it and trying to get out from under her spell, but is suffering emotionally.
2 options
1- bout a babysitter he had when he was a kid, and he fell in love with and had sexual attraction to. so one day he offered her money to show him his boobs or whatever he wanted....and that´s why ¨what would you give
¨2 - bout childhood and the memories of being in love with someone, and how far are you willing to give to it
anyways, is a love song and things like that, very sexy song indeed, love it

i think its about how when you're in love all you feel is the responsibility to sustain that love and have nothing else to worry about.
It's about someone he loves and does everything for but maybe she doesn't do much for him, but that doesn't matter because he loves her. He wants to "stay a child with her forever"..be with her forever
it's about a lover who lost his girlfriend: "Now what did I do to disappoint you?"
so he became crazy: "I have given everything I could And I don't think it really even matters Maybe nothing does And it keeps returning to remind me That I want to remain A child with you forever"
something like a regression state

This really is a beautiful song. It's melancholy and definitely a little bitter, but you can't help but feel the love and the disappointment of the narrator, because in my opinion he's coming to terms with the fact that he will likely lose the woman he loves so very much simply because there's nothing he can do to make her happy, no matter how hard he tries. And I can certainly relate.
It's haunting--"I want to remain a child with you forever"--I think we all feel like that sometimes. The narrator, when he was young and in love with this woman, had nothing to worry about, and things between them were beautiful. He longs for the ability to stay the hands of time, because he knows that if they didn't have to grow up then they never would have come to such bitter terms. He tries so hard for her, but she's never satisfied, and when he tries to leave, she "tease[s] him and tell[s] him to stay." So he stays, trying to convince himself that things can work...but deep down he knows they never will. So he just wistfully wishes that time could stop.
Its about the aftermath of cheating in a relationship in which you try to work it out. she's forgiven him, but only in words and she is still hurt so she continues to lash out accusing him. He wishes he can go back to a time when he was innocent of the accusations.
