Have I Told You Lately Lyrics
Have I told you lately that I love you?
Have I told you there's no one else above you?
Fill my heart with gladness, take away all my sadness
Ease my troubles, that's what you do
For the morning sun in all it's glory
Meets the day with hope and comfort too
You fill my life with laughter, somehow you make it better
Ease my troubles, that's what you do
There's a love less defined
And its yours and its mine
Like the sun
And at the end of the day
We should give thanks and pray
To the one, to the one
Have I told you lately that I love you?
Have I told you there's no one else above you?
Fill my heart with gladness, take away all my sadness
Ease my troubles, that's what you do
There's a love less defined
And its yours and its mine
Like the sun
And at the end of the day
We should give thanks and pray
To the one, to the one
Have I told you lately that I love you?
Have I told you there's no one else above you?
Fill my heart with gladness, take away all my sadness
Ease my troubles, that's what you do
Take away all my sadness, fill my life with gladness
Ease my troubles, that's what you do
Have I told you there's no one else above you?
Fill my heart with gladness, take away all my sadness
Ease my troubles, that's what you do
Meets the day with hope and comfort too
You fill my life with laughter, somehow you make it better
Ease my troubles, that's what you do
And its yours and its mine
Like the sun
And at the end of the day
We should give thanks and pray
To the one, to the one
Have I told you there's no one else above you?
Fill my heart with gladness, take away all my sadness
Ease my troubles, that's what you do
And its yours and its mine
Like the sun
And at the end of the day
We should give thanks and pray
To the one, to the one
Have I told you there's no one else above you?
Fill my heart with gladness, take away all my sadness
Ease my troubles, that's what you do
Ease my troubles, that's what you do

The diction in this song indicates to me that it is about God. Words and phrases like "love that's divine" and "like the sun" definitely imply some spirituality if not religion. If you read the song line by line, each line kind of gives that same sort of message.
Just my interpretation, but I think it is pretty legit.
You're right, and by the way, it was written by Van Morrison.

Yeah, nice view there sabio, I never thought of that angle, until you I read it from your comment.

Rod Stewart; I love you :) :P He's amazing, his lyrics ! Oooft.
This song though, as much as I love it, I hate listening to it, when I'm in that shitty kinda mood :/

Yes you're right Sabio, it's a love song to God, and was written by Van Morisson. Can't remember the album it was on at the moment, but the whole album was pretty much a dedication to Van's Christian thoughts at that time. He even did a duet with Cliff Richard
He has a very earthy outlook on life. He sees things in very simple way. He appreciates the good earth and the things that really matter. He has deep aspect to his personality. And there is this girl whom he loves a lot. She makes things easier for him not more complicated. He feels very thankful so he will give thanks “to the One”.
LOOOOVVVEEEE
