now and forever
the moment is gone and
time runs out
then it hits you with the pain
things are great on the way up
but nobody is with you
when you re on the way down
you got what you wished for
is that what you really wanted
it's how i think of you
raining in my house
indecision
problems that took years
to build and build
and admission is to far away
life in a blackout
is like life in a storm
when you finally come out
you see that you're all alone
you got what you wished for
is that what you really wanted
the day you break is the
day you're born
then you deal with the blame
is that what you wished for
is that what you really wanted
the moment is gone and
time runs out
then it hits you with the pain
things are great on the way up
but nobody is with you
when you re on the way down
you got what you wished for
is that what you really wanted
it's how i think of you
raining in my house
problems that took years
to build and build
and admission is to far away
life in a blackout
is like life in a storm
when you finally come out
you see that you're all alone
you got what you wished for
is that what you really wanted
day you're born
then you deal with the blame
is that what you wished for
is that what you really wanted

this is one of the greatest songs i've ever heard, and i have heard a lot. Granted it is pretty old by today's standards, but i feel that this song could have been a HUGE hit, if it had any publicity whatsoever. The song (to me) symoblizes one of two things, i haven't quite decided yet:
apparently, the masses don't like sponge.....they only like nickelback, fall out boy, kings of leon blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah.....this song is so powerful, and this band should have had a few more rays of that lime light.
It’s about addiction and having to hit rock bottom, like all addicts must, in order to have any chance at recovery.
“Things are great on the way up” getting high, nobody wants to experience the comedown, or worse, withdrawals.
“Life in a blackout, like life in a storm” if you’ve never been an addict then you have no idea what a blackout is, some of them can last for days depending on the substance.
“This is the day you break you are born” you’ve hit rock bottom from your addiction. Now what? Go back into that storm, or give that broken body a new rebirth and go into rehab and get help and conquer addiction.
