Forgiveness Lyrics

In my silence I would love to forget
But restitution hasn't come quite yet
And with one accord I keep moving forth
I stretch my heart to heal some more

It used to be all I'd want to learn
Was wisdom trust and truth
But now all I really want to learn
Is forgiveness for you

As my seasons change I've now grown to know
When one's heart creates, one's soul doesn't owe
So I wash away stains of yesterday
Then tempt my heart with love's display

I think that this song has to do with someone doing something wrong to him, and he drops all of his past desires and just wants to be able to forgive the person and love again. "But now all I really want to learn Is forgiveness for you"

This is one of my favorite songs by CS. I don't know for sure if there is a specific situation here that the song refers to, but one of the managers for the band kind of screwed them over with their contract and entangled them in this lawsuit. This album "Disciplined Breakdown" was written during this time, and a lot of songs represent strong emotions that were felt by the band at the time. I think this song is just about learning to forgive someone that has wronged us. How many of us have felt wronged by someone, but at the same time find it hard to forgive that person. This song is about the art of learning to forgive someone as is expressed many times throughout the song.

I'm 88% sure that most of the songs on Disciplined Breakdown is about the band's strained relationship with their manager. So I have no doubt that this song is no different.

It IS about "relationship" but not the boy/girl relationship that you guys are thinking about. Though it can easily be taken that way and there is nothing wrong with you if you think that way.

This song reminds me of the time when someone broke my heart for no reason at all it's not easy to forgive her i guess it will take time...

Love this song.. Brought me peace after being absolutely ripped apart by an ex-boyfriend...

For so long all I wanted to learn was truth, trust etc... But after I saw his true colors all I wanted to find was forgiveness for myself and for him for hurting be so terribly. I wanted peaceful closure for myself. I loved this song was entirely focused on "me"... When ones heart creates... Ones soul doesn't owe...

It also brought me comfort with the hope of future love... Love's display...

Love the guitar rifts as well

you have an ex? LOL. and you know how to love. LOL. Fuck you

To me it says he's done something wrong, and he just wants to forget it and move on, but he knows he needs to apologize and be forgiven, then try to show his love again..."then tempt my heart with love's display."

i totally agree with Knight1710,this is about somebody doing you wrong and you want to want to let go of the negative feeling that you have towards that person..maybe because you think your friendship (or whatever relationship you have) is much stronger than your pride.

i think its about something he said or did and regrets it now. and he wants forgiveness for it. and he wants the person to open up to them again!

Somebody broke his heart and he just wants to forget about her, but his heart demands justice. Restitution would be her restoring his heart to whole again; The restitution would her job.

He's reflecting on the lonely separateness of heart and soul. He can't continue his soul's chosen path of seeking wisdom trust and truth because his heart is demanding attention and distracting him. His soul won't fix it: "when one's heart creates (love) one's soul doesn't owe (the heart sh!t)". And he wants to learn forgiveness so he won't care about restitution and can forget everything.

But the only way to forgive is to get right down into the relationship again: to tempt his heart to feel love by displaying love.

The message i get: only the heart can heal the heart.

Take away the guy singing and the music is cheerful yet cold and almost uplifting. It's like he's laughing at his pain.
