Cheeseburger In Paradise Lyrics

Tried to amend my carnivorous habits.
Made it nearly seventy days,
Losin' weight without speed, eatin' sunflower seeds,
Drinkin' lots of carrot juice and soakin' up rays.

But at night I'd have these wonderful dreams
Some kind of sensuous treat.
Not zucchini, fettuccini, or bulger wheat,
But a big warm bun and a huge hunk of meat.

Cheeseburger in paradise.
Heaven on earth with an onion slice.
Not too particular, not too precise.
I'm just a cheeseburger in paradise.

I like mine with lettuce and tomato,
Heinz Fifty-seven and French fried potatoes.
Big kosher pickle and a cold draft beer.
Well, good God Almighty, which way do I steer
For my cheeseburger in paradise.

Verse 2:
Heard about the old time sailor men,
They eat the same thing again and again;
Warm beer and bread they say could raise the dead.
Well, it reminds me of the menu at a Holiday Inn.

But times have changed for sailors these days.
When I'm in port I get what I need;
Not just Havanas or banana or daiquiris,
But that American creation on which I feed!

Cheeseburger in paradise
Medium rare with muenster'd be nice
Not too particular, not too precise
I'm just a cheeseburger in paradise.

I like mine with lettuce and tomato
Heinz 57 and French fried potatoes
Big kosher pickle and a cold draught beer
Well, good god Almighty which way do I steer

For a cheeseburger in paradise
Makin' the best of every virtue and vice.
Worth every damn bit of sacrifice
To get a cheeseburger in paradise;
To be a cheeseburger in paradise.
I'm just a cheeseburger in paradise.

"Cheeseburger is paradise medium rare with mustard'd be nice"

That should be muenster, as in the cheese, can't have a cheeseburger without the cheese!

Yet the word "cheeseburger" already implies there's cheese :) But since I love muenster, I'm gonna give a little on this one.

I second this. It should be "muenster" not "mustard".

Is this just any song?? does it mean anything??

Cover art for Cheeseburger In Paradise lyrics by Jimmy Buffett

I think it means exactly how it is writen. Jimmy doesn't use a lot of hidden meaning behind his songs, in fact I don't know if he has any. Now I don't know, he might have tried losing weight and maybe eating veggies but only makin it 70 days. Other than that, I'm sure it means exactly how it sounds.

I think I remember reading about Jimmy saying he and a few others were lost on a boat and the entire time he kept salivating over thoughts of eating a cheeseburger. When they finally made it to land he ordered a burger, of course, and subsequently wrote this song. I don't remember all the details, but I think it was somewhere along those lines.

Yeah, he was stranded and wanted a cheeseburger, and one day they arrived on the shore of Korea I think. I know it was somewhere that wouldn't have cheeseburgers, but they asked em to make one anyways. Jimmy said it was burnt and not much of a burger, but it tasted great to him

This just might be the corniest song ever written.

For shame !

It means fuck dieting. It's just not worth it. And don't insult simplicity bruiseviolet.

The more sensible sounding explanation is dieting, however, the fun explanation is that he was stranded on a boat in the ocean. I like the fun explanation.
