sors immanis, et inanis, rota to volubilis. status malus, vana salus, semper dissolubilis. obumbrata, et elata, michi quoque niteris. nunc per ludum, dorsum nudum, fero tui sceleris. dread destiny and empty fate, an everturning wheel. who make adversity and fickle health, alike turn to nothing. in the dark and secretly, you work against me. how through your trickery my naked back is turned to you unarmed.

hey emoJustin.... this song isn't from a movie dude... this is from the carmina burana suite composed in 1937... don't skimp out on your research next time and maybe you won't sound like an idiot. but yes you're right, this is an amazing cover. :-)
O Fortuna is a great piece, and Botch trasformed it like only Botch could. I love classical, and I think Botch has some really tight stuff. The bassline and drums get me pumped.

So what's the Latin mean?
Often great and empty, your revolving wheel, an evil state, vain health always dissolving, concealing and veiled
you also strive for me now by game, a lost shirt I guiltily take because of you.
thats the latin translated
heres the full latin and english lyrics O Fortuna,
velut luna
statu variabilis,
semper crescis
aut decrescis;
vita detestabilis
nunc obdurat
et tunc curat
ludo mentis aciem,
egestatem,
potestatem
dissolvit ut glaciem.
Sors immanis
et inanis,
rota tu volubilis,
status malus,
vana salus
semper dissolubilis,
obumbratum
et velatam
mihi quoque niteris,
nunc per ludum
dorsum nudum
fero tui sceleris.
Sors salutis
et virtutis
mihi nunc contraria,
est affectus
et defectus
semper in angaria;
hac in hora
sine mora
cordis pulsum tangite,
quod per sortem
sternit fortem
mecum omnes plangite.
English Lyrics
O Fortune,
changeable
as the moon.
you are always either improving
or deteriorating.
Detestable life
at one moment thwarts
and at another
mockingly indulges the mind's desire
melting away
both poverty and power
like ice.
Vain,
monstrous Fate,
you turning wheel
you can, when you will,
destroy bad circumstances
and delusive success alike.
Veiled
and shadowy,
you attack me too;
now at your whim
I bare my back
under your assault.
You, Fate, who dispose
health and strength
are now against me;
my desires
and my weakness
are in constant slavery.
At this hour
without delay
let all pluck the string;
let all lament with me
how the brave man
is crushed by Fate.
Wow. Profound.
this song is fucking amazing. its so powerful and moving, just as the origional version.
"Hey xbloodrunsblackx , emoJustin is right, O fortuna, from Carl Orff is from a movie named Excalibur. There is a soundtrack with O Fortuna on...so...I think you are the idiot here.. "
yeah, because a song being on a soundtrack makes that song FROM the movie.
duh.
xbloodrunsblackx is right. and i'm pretty sure none of these people from 2002 will ever read this, but i just felt like saying this.
oh yes, i was going to mention that Carmina Burana is one of my favorite classical pieces. Carl Orff actually got a hold of a bunch of old poetry written by German monks in Latin and Old High German and wrote the music to it, so the lyrics themselves are actually pretty old while the music is remotely new (1930s as mentioned before).
