Rascuache Lyrics
of fences with switches
turn them on
the moats of your hopes
poured salt on
these slugs
mugshot fatigue
shimmering
pacemaker pace yourself
you were slowly clawing
your way out
tourniquet of gossip
on a board of checkered
chess
salt ring probing
in case of emergency
stampede is coming
mastadon infantry
radiate this frequency
and show me just what
the hell you mean
pacemaker pace yourself
you were slowly clawing
your way out
here comes the bride
here comes the bride
lavender and smothered in
black turpentine
turn them on
the moats of your hopes
poured salt on
these slugs
mugshot fatigue
shimmering
you were slowly clawing
your way out
on a board of checkered
chess
salt ring probing
in case of emergency
stampede is coming
mastadon infantry
radiate this frequency
and show me just what
the hell you mean
you were slowly clawing
your way out
here comes the bride
lavender and smothered in
black turpentine

I think this song isn't about a relationship at all, really. I think it's about a person that's hiding in layers of protection. Look at all of the lines that would explain that:
1 is obvious, she's putting up her defenses. 2 is another layer, she's hiding from reality in her hopes and dreams, and is insulting and seperating herself from the regular folk, or something, hard to say exactly who the slugs are. 3 is cutting off more reality with a tourniquet, using gossip to spread lies and make herself believe that she's right about something or other. 4 is probably her group of friends or something finding out what's going on.
The chorus seems to be about the girl, or at least one part of the girl that wants to know the truth. Second verse, second half seems to refer to everyone being fed up with her lies and coming after her. The final verse seems to be about the girl coming out, and while she's pretty on the exterior, everyone knows she's dirty and disgusting on the inside. So the title makes perfect sense, because her personality is ugly and unpleasant. 2nd ATDI song that has made sense to me. See, I prefer The Arcade Fire. They make sense lyrically, but ATDI is really cool.
it plays on a surf video called "Momentum under the influence", taj's part, relly good, you should check out if you like surfing
The lyrics are wrong... it's "The moats of your hopes..."
It's about a breakup. Perhaps the breakup of a relationship that never was. If it was, it was barely. And now that it's over, there's still something going on... radiate this freqency part.
Radiated by someone that felt bad and thought he was getting a little bit better. This band always switching tenses, which makes them nice. Always, it comes down to the first person.
Listen and thou shall receive, Aleph
all I know is that At The Drive-In Kicked ass and I was pissed when they broke up...
Yea Momentum was where i heard this tune too, it got my friend really into At the drive-in.... i was kinda stoked to see them in a surf movie... by the way Momentum has a crazy band lineup and the surfing in that movie is just too good... hit up your local surf shop and get the DVD peace
I heard they might get back together, that they were just stressed and shit but that they might make another album...could be bullshit though...
that would be sooo crazy if they got back together
Also isn't the song called " Rascuache"...Im not being a smartass, Im just wondering...
Sparta and The Mars Volta.
At The Drive-In is not getting back together.
...'tourniquet of gossip on a board of checkered chess'...
