You Stole The Sun From My Heart Lyrics
Drinking - water to stay thin
Or is it to purify
I love you all the same
But there's no - no real truce with my fury
You don't have to believe me
I love you all the same
But you stole the sun from my heart
You stole the sun from my heart
You stole the sun from my heart
You stole the sun from
You stole the sun from
You have - broken through my armour
And I don't have an answer
I love you all the same
I paint - the things I want to see
But it don't come easy
I love you all the same
But you stole the sun from my heart
You stole the sun from my heart
Think I'm - I'm lost amongst the undergrowth
So much so I woke up
I love you all the same
But you stole the sun from my heart
You stole the sun from my heart
I have - I've got to stop smiling
It gives the wrong impression
I love you all the same
Or is it to purify
I love you all the same
You don't have to believe me
I love you all the same
You stole the sun from my heart
You stole the sun from my heart
You stole the sun from
You stole the sun from
And I don't have an answer
I love you all the same
But it don't come easy
I love you all the same
You stole the sun from my heart
So much so I woke up
I love you all the same
You stole the sun from my heart
It gives the wrong impression
I love you all the same

To me, this song is about something that a lot of people have felt. It's actually quite twisted. I think it's about loving someone who brings you pain, misery and general sadness, perhaps because they don't love you back, or you can't have. But I think this song, particularly the chorus, with the title repeated over and over, feels like a celebration of the fact that this person has caused you such pain. Like they have completely taken you over, you have suffered from this, and you love this person all the more because of it.
Although I'm sure this is Nicky writing beautifully about Richey, I still think the lyrics could also apply to any slightly screwed up love relationship.
I love the video for this! They keep almost stepping on the rabbits!
this song reminds me of someone whom I cared so much before but now unfortunately I definetely hate him becuse of what he had done to me. Anyway this song is great...
I love this song, it's one of my fave manics ones. I think it's about someone breaking someones heart and making them sad. My favourite part of this song is "I have - I've got to stop smiling It gives the wrong impression I love you all the same" i absolutely love this part. All in all though a quality song! xXxXx
it's about how much they hate touring, according to their biography
Even though this song is considered a classic by most, I always found it to be somewhat mediocre.
I'd have to agree with paulothemanio. It sure is appealing and generally pretty but nothing special in my opinion. I don't really fancy the lyrics.
You can think this with loads of Manics songs, but this one could also be about Richey, especially as it opens with "drinking water to stay thin, or is it to purify, I love you all the same". And with Nicky and Richey's closeness, you could understand the situation stealing the sun from Nicky's heart, but he'll always love Richey.
Nicky Wire: The ultimate early Manics statement of longing for something you're never going to get. There's a slight sense of melancholic hope, accepting defeat and making something of it. It was one of the first songs we [Nick and Richey] sat down at the table and wrote together which was pretty special. It still gives me goose bumps thinking about it. There are so many lyrical ideas in "Motorcycle Emptiness" you almost get swamped in it: too much of everything. Even today it sounds like no other band.
This song always reminds me of Richey, especially the lines: Drinking - water to stay thin Or is it to purify I love you all the same
