[Verse 1]
Oh there was once a man who had lost his own smile
And he wandered the country mile after mile
Never quite knowing what he wanted to find
For his heart it lay heavy with the weight of his mind
[Verse 2]
And he looked at the land through the tears in his eyes
For he knew that there were those who would will her to die
And he wept for his mother as he lay at her feet
And he heard a voice singing him softly to sleep
CHORUS
I'll be your queen, I'll be your mother - I'll be your mystical child
Be your best friend, your lover - Your wife for all time
Will there ever be another, in this life of mine
Will there ever be another, like my mystical child
[Verse 3]
So he climbed a high hill and he looked out to sea
And he heard a voice calling out softly to him
Open your heart boy for it needs to be free
And the next time you're crying come running to me
CHORUS
[Verse 4]
So he walked through the valleys the trees and the fields
And he came to a river where she waited for him
And they looked at the water of life flowing by
And he heard a voice saying 'you're not alone in the fight'
CHORUS

It's a greeny song.
The earth is his mother, lover, friend and child and always will be. He has tears in his eyes when he realises that anyone could hurt this land. He felt empty without this knowledge.
The Levs are a green-anarcho band after all.
No compromise in the defense of mother earth.
about someone losing themselves going down a never ending road by themself, stunning song
Brilliant song. Incredibly moving. I think it's about that one person who you adore and they pass away/leave you.
This is just my interpretation. But I would say the Earth here is our eternal mother and is a metaphor for life in general (since the solid earth/universe is effectively eternal). As vulnerable living beings, everything we do will eventually lead us to our demise (ie we are born and will one day die). Most of us are born happy, are happiness fades over time as we see the harm that is unavoidable. But their is strength we can hold on to, as embodied in the last line of the song as follows: "And they looked at the water of life flowing by And he heard a voice saying 'you're not alone in the fight'"
This can mean, one need not fear the end of life or its tragedies. As all life on earth follows similar paths and the same ending. It is the natural order of things.
