In my eyes this song is about someones partner not having much self confidence in themselves, and thinking that they're a bad person, and the person singing the song is willing to stick by them because they want to help them through it :) xxxxxxxxxxxx

Yea this song is about self-confidence. I think this song is being sung to someone that is really insecure and doesn't beleive in themself. He is trying to reassure them, saying that in time it will get better and they will be OK. He is trying to teach someone to be themself-you have to learn to look in the mirror even though you don't like it, because if you "look rite thru your own reflection" you can see where you have to change and it can help you become the person that you want-"my reflection showed me that I'm far too critical". This person is ruining the relationship through not beleiving in themself, but he is saying that he is willing to sleep next to the mirror for them and eventually they will gain confidence. This is such a pretty song I wish someone wrote this for me, that would give me confidence!! They hold me down.

i agree that its being sung to someone really insecure, but i also think that the person singing is losing paitence and is getting quite irritated. "how would i know what you said?", "barricades" and "but it can't take ten more years"
this is one of my favorite songs ever! i agree with everyone that said it's about someone with low self-esteem.. i dunno if it's like his girlfriend or if he's singing about himself? or maybe just in general about people who hate themselves.... a statement about the fashion industry! ok, watever, i'm rambling. but i just want to say, you know how in the chorus there's the guitar and stuff and singing AND THEN you can hear someone picking out a few notes on the piano? it's so simple, but it took me a year of listening to the song constantly to even hear it! i find it so amazing now, like there was something hidden the whole time that i finally discovered. or maybe i just don't pay enough attention...
I think this song has something to do with feeling trapped in a relationship. That's it =)
They'll finally be playing this one live on tour next month, can't wait!!!!
