Sister Havana Lyrics

Come around to my way of thinkin'
Don't you want to, want to get along?
Everyday just like a vacation with you
When I'm watchin' you and Fidel Castro in the sand, kissin'!

Girl you got to roll
Sister Havana,
Overthrow
Sister Havana

She's comin on like a bicycle army
Everybody's waitin' for the man to come down from the tower
Every day is just like a vacation with you layin' right here now
I'm watchin you and Fidel Castro in the sand, assassin!

Girl you got to roll
Sister Havana,
Overthrow
Sister Havana
Sister Havana
Sister Havana
Sister Havana

Sister Havana

There's no time to lose
I don't care what they say
There's no time to lose
We could have a holiday
But there's no time for hesitation
(There's no time to lose)
There's no time, no time for waitin'
(There's no time to lose)
There's no time so let's take the time and get it on today
(There's no time to lose)

Girl you got to roll
Sister Havana
Overthrow,
Sister Havana
Sister Havana, Sister Havana
Sister Havana, Sister Havana
Sister Havana
Come around to my way of thinkin'
Come around to my way of thinkin'
Come around to my way of thinkin'
Come around Sister

It’s hard to believe I’m leaving just the second comment on this awesome song. One of the best guitar riffs ever, UO’s Sister Havana is one of my favorites.

My Opinion

This song always struck me as sort of a subversive message to the Cuban people. On the surface it looks like a come-on, but I think 'Sister Havana' is a reference to the Cuban people and the singer represents the United States. It's a call to 'overthrow' the communist rulers of the island and 'come around to my way of thinkin' which I believe is a reference to Western democracy/capitalism. And it's all set to a kick-ass guitar riff. It still holds up 15 years down the line.

i really liked this song, and never really knew what it was about because i couldn't understand the lyrics. heard it today on sirius lithium channel, so i looked it up, and as stated, it still kicks ass many years later. very catch riffs. really a great song.

Its an anti Castro song by the lyrics....I don't think this band is political or anything....but basically 'overthrow communism' so we can get together...

From Nash Kato: "It sounded like a hook: 'sis-ter Ha-vana,'" he said. "Then the lyrics more or less wrote themselves. We didn't have any firm stance on America's relationship with Cuba, but it sang well and sounded like a hook. There was no political commitment."
