I Can't Catch You Lyrics

I guess you could say I'm a little afraid
What if you go away?
I've seen it before
I've been here before
If I have to love myself, tell me how to love myself
What's there to love about myself?
I just wan't to see that, as a person, you want me

But I'm feeling the pain of all these bags in the way
And I'm thinking you're just gonna run away
And I can't catch you

I guess I would say that I want you to stay
'Cause you have this strange knack
Adds a glow to my black as you chase it all away
And I hope that you can see I will someday leave these things
I am waiting to be free

But I'm feeling the pain of all these bags in the way
And I'm thinking you're just gonna run away
And I can't catch you
Oh, I want to catch you...

Cover art for I Can't Catch You lyrics by Sixpence None the Richer

one of my favourite songs of all time. i think the lyrics is about someone who is going into a new relationship, and lacks the courage and confidence in this new relationship because she has been hurt before in the past and is paranoid that it'll happen again. she wants to be with this new guy but she's still holding on to the fears of the past relationship (feeling all these bags in the way), and as master bates said, she's worried that this new guy will leave her too and she can't get him back.

It's a really sweet and catchy song. I think it's about a girl being afraid of losing soemone, and not being able to get him/her back.

"But I've been feelin' the pain of all these bags in the way, and I'm thinkin' that you're just gonna run away."

The most perfect way to describe the feeling that the object of your heart's desire could never love you unconditionally, baggage and "black" and all, that I think I've ever seen in a song.
