i think this song could also be about the sane person trapped inside the crazy life of a drug addict or buried under the chaos of someone who is mentally ill. the other character in the song may just be another aspect of the singer's personality.

I think this song is about being in a relationship with a mentally ill person. I'm leaning towards a bipolar disorder as the first verse seems to catch this person in the depressive stage while the second verse is showing them to be very manic, but it could be extended towards any type of a mental illness. The narrator seems to take up the responsibility of keeping the relationship going when it clearly turned toxic and it would benefit his mental health if he left. I think this about a saviour's complex, where a person thinks they can fix someone, when it's not their job to babysit/fix another adult and doing so will not make anyone any happier in the long run as it is up to the person themselves to want to fixed or make active effort

I think it ties in closely with the video, a guy is dating a bitch, who keeps doing stupid stuff, perhaps she's fucked on drugs all the time but anyway he's blinded to the bad things she does as from time to time she does something good
