All Things in Time Lyrics
Call me up when you need
Strangers often deceive
And there's something so freeing
To call out a name
And someone's believing
I've been changing my mind
Through with looking behind
It's a crash course in life
The best you can do is pass by
No getting out alive
I'll hold a light for you to see
All things in time, all you'll ever need
Something I can't explain
Keeps me running, afraid
And every day
Looks me in the face and says
"Who'd you think you were, anyway?"
If you'll hold a light for me to see
All things in time, all we'll ever need
Well, you told me so
That we'd seen this all before
So what is it keeps us coming back for more?
I'll hold a light for you to see
All things in time, all you'll ever need
All things in time, all we'll ever need
Strangers often deceive
And there's something so freeing
To call out a name
And someone's believing
I've been changing my mind
Through with looking behind
It's a crash course in life
The best you can do is pass by
No getting out alive
All things in time, all you'll ever need
Keeps me running, afraid
And every day
Looks me in the face and says
"Who'd you think you were, anyway?"
All things in time, all we'll ever need
That we'd seen this all before
So what is it keeps us coming back for more?
All things in time, all you'll ever need
All things in time, all we'll ever need

I love the line "everyday looks me in the face and says who'd you think you were anyway"
Just a classic Glen Phillips line. He can cut to the heart so quick.
Just a transparent attempt to get people to use their lighters at the end of a concert :)
on the rare occasion that i do hear this song, it reminds me of my old friends. it makes me truly believe that a friendship is one of life's beautiful things; knowing that friends can grow separately without growing apart
This came out when an ex and I were doing the whole break-up then get back together thing. Almost 20 years later and we still talk and meet up now and then. To me, this song is us.
The audience for these lyrics is a new love interest. Both have already experienced love/relationships and are likely a little jaded from those experiences and hesitant to emotionally invest in a new love (been there, done that). Therefore, the lyrics remind the love interest of the basic benefits of having a lover (they are there for you...."call out a name And someone's believing). The lyrics further explain that life is hard and full of challenges but that each of them can help each other to face those challenges together.....forever (All things in time, all we'll ever need).
On a personal note, I'm in a new relationship with a woman that has never been married or even had a boyfriend for more than 2 years (very jaded about love and relationships). Therefore, no matter what I say or do, she is hesitant to let her emotions take over. I am tempted to print these lyrics and hand them to her!! LOL
