In the beginning
Back in nineteen fifty-five
Man didn't know about a rock 'n' roll show
And all that jive
The white man had the schmaltz
The black man had the blues
No one knew what they was gonna do
But Tchaikovsky had the news
He said

"Let there be sound," there was sound
"Let there be light," there was light
"Let there be drums," there was drums
"Let there be guitar," there was guitar
"Oh, let there be rock"

Woo

And it came to pass
That rock 'n' roll was born
And all across the land, every rockin' band
Was blowing up a storm
And the guitar man got famous
The businessman got rich
And in every bar there was a superstar
With a seven-year itch
There were fifteen-million fingers
Learning how to play
And you could hear the fingers picking
And this is what they had to say

"Let there be light
Sound
Drums
Guitar
Oh, let there be rock"

One night in a club called The Shaking Hand
There was a forty-two decibel rocking band
And the music was good and the music was loud
And the singer turned and he said to the crowd

"Let there be rock"

    My Interpretation

Rock is big. Really big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way to the shop if you want a chiko roll, but that's just peanuts to rock.

By drawing a clever parallel between Genesis and the creation of rock, Bon brilliantly captures the immense importance of rock. At the same time, he acknowledges the debt owed to musicians past who created blues and then the later artists who, like gods, fused blues and jazz with pop sensibility to create the rock n roll universe.

Time began in 1955 - coincidentally the year young Angus was born. Something new and cataclysmic was happening. No one knew where it would lead, but roll over Beethoven and give Tschaikovski the news, rock n roll began and it would change everything.

It came from the streets, from the hopes and dreams of millions of wannabe guitar heroes and rock stars creating their own brand of music no one had heard before. And the rich businessmen were there to exploit them for profit.

And now we have a 92 decibel rocking band playing good and loud, to celebrate and consummate the rise of rock to its pinnacle.

This song could have gone oh so close to Spinal Tap bombast, but totally avoids that trap. It's passionate and expansive, historical and anthemic, but still raw and cool and hot, all at the same time. It's brilliant lyrically and musically, with all the allusions to old time music in both the riffs and the words.

My favourite performance of this was in Colchester for the TV show "Rock Goes to College". Look it up on YouTube, but avoid the version with the Comcast interruption (you will see it referred to in the description). Bon looks like he's about to have a stroke, Angus is going nuts, Malcolm is dripping with sweat and Cliff has so much hair he looks like a haystack on legs. But the star of this one is Phil. What a machine. The picture cannot keep up with how fast he is hitting that high hat, and even in the quiet bits he's working so hard it reminds me of the rowing scene from Ben Hur, but on fast forward. Awesome.

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
