Living In Darkness Lyrics
Well look at me now
I've got no reason to be like everybody else
So dumb, so happy
I like things that bite
Things that creep at night
Everybody's asking me what it's like down there
The concrete floor is cold
The walls are bare
2x
I feel safest being alone
Living in darkness
Living in a world of my own
I feel selfish, doing everything by myself
I feel so cold
I want to live to be a couple thousand years old
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust
I thought I knew somebody that I could trust
Now I'm not so sure
2x
I feel safest being alone
Living in darkness
Living in a world of my own
One whole lifetime I'm never gonna last
Unless I live 'til dying is a thing of the past
And all these girls I know out turning boys into men
I know I am never going down again
Never again
2x
I feel safest being alone
Living in darkness
Living in a world of my own
I've got no reason to be like everybody else
So dumb, so happy
I like things that bite
Things that creep at night
Everybody's asking me what it's like down there
The concrete floor is cold
The walls are bare
I feel safest being alone
Living in darkness
Living in a world of my own
I feel so cold
I want to live to be a couple thousand years old
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust
I thought I knew somebody that I could trust
Now I'm not so sure
I feel safest being alone
Living in darkness
Living in a world of my own
Unless I live 'til dying is a thing of the past
And all these girls I know out turning boys into men
I know I am never going down again
Never again
I feel safest being alone
Living in darkness
Living in a world of my own

ok this song is about accepting the fact that perhaps one's life is not all "disneyland" like the Beatles wanted you to think it was. At least that's the impression I got from the interview at the end of the "living in darkness" album --Dyl
Mate you obviously haven't listened to the Beatles lyrics very closely have you. Apart from that yes... life is not always disneyland.

just a song about depression and alienation. everyone feels like this at some point. mike palm is such a great lyricist and the drums on this are sick.

I heard somewhere that the percussion noises heard in the chorus are trash can lids being clapped together.
on second thought, that's most likely BS

what a great song for when you feel depressed. oh and 80smovieguy: the 1991 reissue of "Living In Darkness" has the album notes where Mike Palm says that one of the mics recording the drums messed up and they had to use trash can lids being clapped together.
