if you listen carefully, at the very end of the song when it's doing the fadeout...you can hear the lead vocalist say "WHAT ARE YOU LAUGHING ABOUT?" it's low though so you hafta turn your stereo up loud! --Dyl

It’s about being depressed and cynical. You don’t see the good in anyone or anything. Those you most care about will betray you, so in preparation, you distance yourself from everyone. Now you’re genuinely alone and no one is going to reach out to you, you convince yourself that you don’t care, but you’re broken by it. You convince yourself that the world will never change for the better, but that’s just to justify your choice to give up. Finally, you have no reason to keep living. So you leave forever.
