Electro-Shock Blues Lyrics

feeling scared today
write down "i am ok"
a hundred times the doctors say

I am ok
I am ok
Im not ok

skin is crawling off
mopping the sweaty drops
sticking around for this shit

another day
another day
not another day

pink pill feels good
finally understood
take me in your warm, embrace
I am trying
I am trying

"My sister had been in electro-shock therapy, that actually helped her at that time. After she died we found some things she had written, something the doctor had told her write. That’s the main thing in this song. I just wanted to make a tribute to her and show that understand how she felt." -E

I believe the lyrics refer to how E's sister had to write down 'I am okay' 100 times while she was in a mental hospital. eventually she just wrote 'i am not okay' and E used it. Really sad song.

If you read 'things the grandchildren should know' He says it is about how he found all the writings from his sister after she committed suicide as you said.

This is one of the saddest songs I've ever heard. Absolutely beautiful, but somewhat painful to listen to. The "I am Ok, I am Ok, I'm not Ok" part especially gets me.

This is on my top five (or bottom five?) of most disturbing/depressing songs. It's freaking amazing...The slow pace where the music doesn't just stop, their's no audio at all.

The piano and cello/violin (I'm not sure which it is) in the background adds to the depressing power of this song.

And to add to that: I think I read somewhere that lithium actually helps depressed people, I"m not sure though.

It's a pretty strong anti-depressant... in a sedative kind of way. But this song is amazing. So sad.
