Radio Head Lyrics

Baby your mind is a radio
Got a reciever inside my head
Baby I'm tuned to your wavelength
Lemme tell you what it says:

Transmitter!
Oh! Picking up something good
Hey, radio head!
The sound...of a brand-new world.

So look at my fingers vibrate
From their tip down down to my toes
Now I'm recieving your signal
We're gonna leave the land of noise

Transmitter!
Oh! Picking up something good
Hey, radio head!
The sound...of a brand-new world.

Transmitter!
Oh! Picking up something good
Hey, radio head!
The sound...Of a brand-new world.

Now you and I have no secrets
Now baby, lemme read your mind
I hear ev'rything you're thinking
You can't help the way you sound

Transmitter!
Picking up something good.
Hey! Radio head!
The sound...Of a brand-new world
Oh! Radio Head
Radio Head
Radio Head

Radiohead was called "on a Friday" because they rehearsed on Friday's. This is common in the university music world. A jazz combo that rehearses at 2:00 is often billed as the 2:00 combo. But I agree, Radiohead is a better name. I think that Radiohead was being tongue-in-cheek when it said it named itself after the least annoying song in the film. It seems that Radiohead songs are the closest things (lyrically) to Talking Heads songs that you can find today. Their songs are basically poetic musings on the f***ed up state of affairs in modern society. Radiohead has a richer database to probe, granted (with all the corporate takeovers that have made us, more than ever, cogs in the machine). But don't forget, Talking Heads had the Reagan administration, rich fodder for any intellectual canon!!!!!

According to the screenwriter of the Talking Heads film "True Stories", the song was written about the author (or, more specifically, based on a conversation about a "true story" the writer told David Byrne about some extra-sensory experiences years before...) Actor Stephen Tobolowsky met David Byrne and was asked to help write a screenplay treatment for what became the film/album "True Stories". Early on, Stephen mentioned that he had real ESP experiences when he was in college, and he heard voices, like a radio from the other room...David Byrne later wrote a song and played it for Tobolowsky, knowing that he would recognize that it was influenced by the story he had told Byrne.

Arcadia1, what the hell are you saying?

yeah. the song has to be looked at from the standpoint that it was written for the movie. i read on talking-heads.net that david byrne wrote the lines sang by the characters specifically for the movie and that was all. later, he wrote entire songs out of them with the band.

The band Radiohead named themselves after this song because "it was the least annoying song on 'True Stories'."

Presumably the song is about mind reading, as per the guy in the David Byrne movie True Stories who read minds - this is the song he sings, and DB wrote it for the movie.

radiohead's original name was "on a friday." I'm glad they went with radiohead instead.
