The Bed's Too Big Without You Lyrics
The bed's too big without you
Cold wind blows right through that open door
I can't sleep with your memory
Dreaming dreams of what used to be
When she left I was cold inside
That look on my face was just pride
No regrets, no love, no tears
Living on my own was the least of my fears
Bed's too big without you
Bed's too big without you
Bed's too big
Without you
Since that day when you'd gone
Just had to carry on
Get through the day but late at night
Made love to my pillow but it didn't feel right
Every day just the same
Old rules for the same old game
All I gained was heartache
All I made was one mistake
Now the bed's too big without you
Bed's too big without you
Bed's too big
Without you
Bed's too big without you
Bed's too big without you
Bed's too big
Without you
Without you
{fade to music}
Cold wind blows right through that open door
I can't sleep with your memory
Dreaming dreams of what used to be
When she left I was cold inside
That look on my face was just pride
No regrets, no love, no tears
Living on my own was the least of my fears
Bed's too big without you
Bed's too big
Without you
Just had to carry on
Get through the day but late at night
Made love to my pillow but it didn't feel right
Every day just the same
Old rules for the same old game
All I gained was heartache
All I made was one mistake
Bed's too big without you
Bed's too big
Without you
Bed's too big without you
Bed's too big
Without you
Without you

I love this song so much. I love the reggatta de blanc album. So many interesting songs. The bassline drives this somber song so nicely. My fav line is "made love to my pillow but it didn't feel right". It's so funny, but at the same time really sad. Like when you laugh while you're crying. I'd love to hear other peoples thoughts on this song!
I crossed paths with a girl Her eyes—the pact between the summer and autumn suns It was the monsoon I named her—sailor of a stormy pond I knew once How to be small
A siren who talked in her sleep Gave me the branch of mistletoe Where was I? Within the indecisive walls Of that same cascade of word Turns on. Turns off. Turns on. Flaming resurrection of a charred alphabet Court of echoes I close my eyes The room is covered with moon. The hour is a crystal ball. At times—the page breathes Persistent cables of desires
Unfazed by such a night I would penetrate silence But I saw you—like the snow—asleep among appearances You were in another day
[paraphrased]
'Bring On The Night' is a moody and graceful reggae ballad, graced by that wonderful Sting chorus, and 'The Bed's Too Big Without You' is more of the same. [George Starostin]
I thought that the lyric was "the look on my face was surprise". Guess I was wrong.
I don't think this song has a secret meaning or anything. It's pretty straight forward. Awesome drum beat, gotta love it.
"Get through the day but late at night Made love to my pillow but it didn't feel right"
The way i look at this song is... When youre in a relationship somtimes it can happen that the person you love becomes a piece of the livingroom for you, you don't stop and think hey she might be gone some day! So in this story his pride got the best of him. He had this Illusion that he was strong but he lost his mask and she left him... this song is about appreciating what you have... and sadly in this case ... In what you HAD.
agreed.
i love the reggae feel that goes through this whole album, as my dad once noted, "it is called that for a reason, reggatta de blanc is like saying 'the white reggae.'"
love it.
A poignant song for those who can relate to it, and just plain good to listen to otherwise.
I honestly thought the line was "The look on my face was surprise" not "just pride". Any help here?
Anyone know if Sting wrote this? Or were they covering Sheila Hylton? Dig this version:
