In The Stream Of Commerce Lyrics
no matter how many times we paint over these walls
the writing still shines through
in the stream of commerce we're afloat
a thousand washed-up rockers trash the banks.
oh no.
in the stream of commerce we're afloat
and unafraid to sail a sinking boat
honestly my hand is on the plug this time
it says here right on my dotted line
haste creates waste
keep your eyes on the road
you might be able to drive
but you're so lucky to be alive
in the stream of commerce we're afloat
miles of red tape have choked us dead
now it's building like a nasty mold
and everybody can't help but catch the cold
aah aahh aaahh
all the writing on the wall shines through...
all the while we knew.
the writing still shines through
a thousand washed-up rockers trash the banks.
oh no.
and unafraid to sail a sinking boat
honestly my hand is on the plug this time
it says here right on my dotted line
keep your eyes on the road
you might be able to drive
but you're so lucky to be alive
miles of red tape have choked us dead
now it's building like a nasty mold
and everybody can't help but catch the cold
all the while we knew.

i dunno what it means, but these lyrics are wrong... its not 'a thousand washed up rockers trash the banks" its "a thousand washed up rockers crash this base"
Zector, do yourself a favor and buy Jupiter, it has the lyrics in it... It is 'A thousand wash up rockers trash these banksl.'
Erm, the banks.
he says these banks, either way, i really like this song.
cave in is too good for me
I believe zector1981 is partially correct. I think Brodsky is singing: ". . . crash these banks . . ."
To tsucol: I know that your comment was directed to another poster, but I do own the album, and quite a few of the songs have inaccurate (and some missing) lyrics in the jacket.
Anyway, this song rocks. This is my favorite Cave In album, if not my favorite album altogether.
I love Steve's voice on this song and I'm continually impressed by this band's ability to write music like no other.
i think its about major record labels but i could be wrong, "the stream of commerce" meaning the recording industry is a business, all labels are worried about is selling albums.
miles of red tape have choked us dead
kinda like theyre being told to not step over the labels creative boundaries...
