Buried deep as you can dig inside yourself,
And covered with a perfect shell,
Such a charming beautiful exterior.
Laced with brilliant smiles and shining eyes
And perfect makeup but you're barely scraping by,
But you're barely scraping by.

This is one time
That you can't fake it hard enough to please everyone or anyone at all.
And the grave that you refuse to leave
The refuge that you've built to flee
The places you have come to fear the most,
Is the places you have come to fear the most.

Buried deep as you can dig inside yourself,
And hidden in the public eye.
Such a stellar monument to loneliness.
Laced with brilliant smiles and shining eyes
And perfect makeup but you're barely scraping by, but you're barely scraping by.

This is one time
That you can't fake it hard enough to please everyone or anyone at all.
And the grave that you refuse to leave
The refuge that you've built to flee
The places you have come to fear the most,
Is the places you have come to fear the most.

General Commentthis song is obvious of meaning, but i thought i'd share a bit of my experience with this type of thing.
All of 2005 and 2006, I suffered from severe depression. No anti-depressants, because my parents are against those, but I was one of those lie-through-her-teeth-to-a-counselor-teenage girls. You'd never be able to guess that I was hurting, I dressed "preppy", was a volleyball player, had a lot of friends, etc. Inside I was [and sort of still am, just not so much] a mess. Still, every day I'd go to school, smile, be nice, cheery, etc etc, until one day a friend [a very good friend in retrospect] came to me and told me how FAKE i was. She told me that everyone could tell, that i was just another one of those preppy bitches, and that none of my friends were really my friends. I didn't believe her. About two months later, all the "preppy chicks" ditched me. You can't fake happiness, it just hurts those around you, and yourself.

masks are easier to see through than you think.
